Fry – not trying to be too clever – just picked up on the times you mentioned.
Re: taking the time set by ‘Sea’ is pointless as that was a proper race – ie the real thing! -That’s why that part of the quote was left out.
The race of EP’s the other day was not – against better he may be able to produce better – as Moore said – the better/stronger pace should suit.
EP and Workforce (should he run) both look the same in that they will be looking to let down early with one long run – head down kick on stuff – if either gets checked will they be able to pick up again?
Or is their style suited for one nabbing them form the back – i.e. what happened to the EP at Donny?Just some thoughts…
Fair play if he wins – as you did come on and flag him up – but the race has not yet been run!

It’s clear that we all see times very differently…
April 17, 2010 at 10:44 #290783Hi Zenjah
Good fun and no offence meant if I was a bit abrupt – had to go out.
You make very valid points and I think EP will have to go early so he doesn’t get caught napping by the likes of SNA or an SNA type. Good news is the finish at Newmarket is uphill so it will be a true test.
I couldn’t back any horse at less than 4-1 ew for this race I guess is the point I am trying to make. The fact that Guy and John are both just up the road makes me a little biased to EP.
April 17, 2010 at 11:33 #290790All is cool – none taken!

The point that got lost is that you can’t compare times from different tracks – that’s like asking who’s the best miler in the world – ‘Good Ba Ba’ in Sha Tin or ‘Goldikova’ in the US or France!
Everything is relative – and we won’t know ’till the day…and all of the pages and hyperbole that’s been written will either look good or bad!

For what it’s worth I’m on some that if they place at the prices that I took then so be it – I’m happy
April 17, 2010 at 11:37 #290793What does a SNA type mean? How many horses would have spreadeagled the field of the Racing Post last year, which included EP? There is no SNA type.EP left the rest for dead that day and he was caught and left 4lengths behind by Murtagh !Everyone is talking about EP now because the victors write the history.

Against my better judgement I’ve thrown a few quid at Dick Turpin at 40/1.
He had looked a nice prospect until disappointing on his final two starts last season, but having apparently wintered well he could be capable of upstaging his more prominent stablemate.
April 17, 2010 at 14:50 #290813You’re better judgment has been reward there. Nice bet to have going into the 2000. Hannon has just said he’s looking at the Irish and the French version though.
Still cant see anything beating St Nick at this rate. Canford Cliffs surely only just stays the 7 so cant go to the Guineas. Save him for the big 6f races.

Nice one.
Wouldn’t fancy Canford reversing that at HQ, and quite why he’ll go there is beyond me after that.
A sprinting campaign looks the better option for CC.

I’ve been talking about EP and backing him since early Feb maybe not on here.
EP was caught napping by SNA so as I see the only way he will get beaten is letting that happen again. Perhaps we should ask Ryan Moore. What did he just say to Mrs Spencer I missed it?
April 17, 2010 at 15:02 #290818Canford Cliffs doesn’t settle and more importantly, won’t win the 2,000 Guineas.
It would be pointless of the two R Hannons even thinking about taking him to Newmarket.
Dick Turpin has a much better chance.

April 17, 2010 at 15:13 #290820Hughes’ answer to my question of whether he stayed was a very uneasy ‘yeah’. Says it all. Arcano was very unruly in the parade ring, wasn’t a happy horse at all.
April 17, 2010 at 15:16 #290821How was EP caught napping??? SNA was pulling double at the back of the field came though and won easily by 4 lengths EP didnt then and wont come guineas day have the speed to beat SNA no matter where they finish in the field

They crawled for 5f listen to the commentary, EP accelerates off a fast pace. SNA does he go on good, good to firm? Was he just a good 2yo we’ve seen it all before. He wasn’t pulling in the race above you must have been watching something else.
I see totesport go 7/2 EP makes my 20s-1 look good. Might have to lay some on Betfair!
April 17, 2010 at 16:02 #290828workforce out of Guineas.
April 17, 2010 at 16:09 #290829Watched the Racing Post once more. Imagine a Montjeu winning a sprint(last two furlongs) as a two year old with a hands and heels ride.
April 17, 2010 at 16:17 #290834Just tried to put some more on EP @ 6-1 with Paddypower their best 4-1 whimps. Ladbrokes & Coral 5-1.
April 17, 2010 at 17:07 #290839God, earlier we had a 6-way fight for the Guineas. Now we’re down to 3! Workforce, Canford Cliffs and Arcano all gone. Just St. Nicholas Abbey, Elusive Pimpernel and Awzaan remain. Only the optimists amongst yourselves could include Inler.
I’m struggling to see Elusive Pimpernel beaten. It hasn’t rained it days, the ground’s going to be as firm as you like at Newmarket come Guineas day, the field’s cutting up, O’Brien’s are taking their time to come to hand (as per usual) and there are only 2 realistic rivals. And to be honest, I can’t help but feel that Awzaan won’t be good enough (using a Showcasing formline to judge him through Arcano, Canford Cliffs, Special Duty, Lady Of The Desert, etc) and that St. Nicholas Abbey will need a lot further. I’m not counting my money, but I’m certainly getting ready to.
Workforce clearly isn’t good enough for the Derby either, else he’d go to the Dante. This Classic Trial at Sandown’s a load of rubbish, has been for years.
April 17, 2010 at 17:27 #290843Why do you insist that SNA needs a lot further. How many Montjeus win as tyos over 7 furlongs against the best of their age?He is special. He sprinted home after a slow run first 5 furlongs. If 7 furlongs at 2 surely 8 at 3 is not unreasonable? Especially against the same bunch.Elusive Pimpernel will have to go from flagfall since nothing else can do it. Will he have anything when SNA comes after him?I am as confident of this race for SNA as I was for Dunguib at Cheltenham
