You got them the wrong way round mate

First time out Shimah was at least 4 lengths behind the two leaders with 2 furlongs to run. Declan McDonogh barely touched her and she caught them with ease a furlong out and went past in great style. Her second run was a similar story and clearly she could have doubled the winning distance.
She ran for a 3rd time but due to very soft ground the speed was blunted but she stayed on well pointing to the fact the Newmarket mile should pose no problems.
Given good or better ground I think she’ll take all the beating.
Rainbow View although impressive, like Shimah, hasn’t beat much There have been better fillies than her beaten in the 1000 guineas. She will find it much tougher when she goes to Newmarket than she did when beating underdeveloped 2 year olds. She looked very developed and forward in all her races to me and may not have made the improvement you would normally expect.
There was nothing to Shimah at 2 years old and she looked more likely to benefit from another year on her back than Rainbow View.
I’ve looked at a lot of these fillies and if Rainbow View is to be beaten Shimah looks the most likely to be the one to put her in her place.
As a betting proposition she makes a lot more appeal at 20/1 EW than taking 6/4 about a filly who I don’t particulary like.
April 14, 2009 at 01:44 #221753It will be interesting to see if the nell gwyn/ fred darling throw up anything this week but at the minute I’m thinking Serious Attitude and Moineach are looking like my pair for this year, with Elusive Wave to do the pair of them in the coronation stakes.
April 15, 2009 at 01:16 #221881Fists, you can get 7/4 on the exchanges about Rainbow view but I agree in terms of value. I’ll be backing Shimah to win more but will still bet RV.
The only other horse who concerns me is Cuis Ghaire. I have a suspicion that her form is a lot better than it looks and whilst she’ll need decent ground she will easily get the mile on breeding. Bolger certainly seems to rate her above everything else he has and he has a few decent ones.
April 15, 2009 at 04:17 #221906Not convinced on the 7/4 favourite either, and there is plenty of decent value with existing class in the ruck. It’s not one-way traffic whatsoever.

Not a bad policy to back two when one is very long and either can show you a profit.
I still can’t see me backing Rainbow View though. Not after what I have said about her and if I do I won’t admit it

Equi, you are still an apprentice, when you have been a keen racing enthusiast for 10yrs, you will qualify to learn the art of Ante-post betting!
dont worry there"s no Wax on Wax off with this art, but there is a pattern
and it takes years to learn! Keep studying and find me the Derby winner!April 16, 2009 at 00:02 #222047

You’re the king, find it yourself
April 16, 2009 at 00:24 #222053If we were to start a thread on the Art of Ante-Post betting on Group 1 races, I think surprisingly we would find that Gordon and Fist are in total agreement with each other.
This isn’t something I specialise in, and I’ve only bet ante-post a very few times before, but I think it goes something like this:-
Find a horse that has made an impressive debut.
It then has to have the right credentials in terms of
breeding
ownership
trainer.Am I at least 80% there?

Do you want to be my apprentice?

Gerald, the only time Fist has agreed with me was when i said last November that i felt Kauto Star did not run his race in the 08 Gold cup
and that on gd/sft ground he would wreak his revenge on Denman in this years Gold Cup!!April 16, 2009 at 01:19 #222063British racing would be the better if Fantasia takes on Rainbow View at Newmarket. Think these two are head and shoulders above the rest (in merit). Love to see the two fight it out up the hill, although I am already on Rainbow View, so my pocket wants Cumani’s filly to go to France.
Fist’s assumption that Rainbow View "has not beaten much" is a little strange, having beaten Prestige winner Fantasia easily in the Fillies Mile. Listed winners Snoquelmie Girl and Dreamtheimpossible not just beaten, but beaten out of sight. The well beaten third in the May Hill, Lahaleeb went on to win the Rockfel.
What more do you want Fist?Mark

The winner reminded me of the way Petrushla won it years ago…
Luca will do what he is told, Mr Strawbridge owns the horse, Luca flogged it so he had best do as he is tolf…

I agreed with you. Has his king thing gone to your head or what?
I think you’re a Jester but would like members to think you’re a king.
I had a look at that post just now. First with superb aftertiming you claimed to have backed Denman for the RSA and the Gold Cup 08 at huge prices.
The you said SEEK! revenge not WREAK! and followed it immediatly by saying he wasn’t worth backing that Alberta’s Run was the horse to be on.
The you told me how wrong I was when I advied the guys to grab the 6/4 for the King Geore and ignore Kauto’s previous run. Should be 5/2 said you. You even said he was finished.
Then when Kauto showed he was clearly better than ever and a totally different animal when spot on, you have Denman beating him next year
If you fancied Kauto Star to win anything I’m Vincent O’Brien

I am sick to death of seeing my name in your posts and I am asking you nicely to cut the crap, Your a walking fantasy and the rudest poster I have ever come across.
And that’s me being nice?
