Was sitting pretty a month ago with Clemmie & September both @ 33’s.

Third time lucky with a little each way on Vitamin 4 places @ 40/1
Looked at her last run and thought she beat today’s 2nd FAV quite comfortably.
May 6, 2018 at 10:53 #1353228Soliloquy for me. I was mightily impressed with how she quickened in her trial and connections can do little wrong at the moment.
I also felt that Sizzing was probably a tad overpriced at 40/1. She was less than a length off Laurens at Doncaster last Autumn and has run over the course. She was campaigned over some awful ground at the back end of last year and her seasonal debut on a quagmire wouldn’t have helped her show what she’s capable off. Back down in trip and on a sounder surface she could sneak into a place.
Despite all this I’m well aware that Happily has all the form in the book so looks saver material.
Soliloquy 13/2
Sizzling 40/1 each-way (4 places)Happily 5/2 saver
May 6, 2018 at 11:33 #1353234Come on P J… You can do it son! Don’t take on the Irish pacemakers early, take it up 3f out… Whoosh.
I’m off to Barbados if Laurens can pull this off today. (Or even Ekhtiyaar in the race before). I have very lumpy doubles and a big treble, with Saxon at 13-2 & 5-1 yesterday. If both could win, well, you’ll all hear me screaming from where ever you are

I’ve cashed out the win singles which I had running on these two horses today. If Laurens does not do it, I hope she bolts up for you Big G, I’ll be cheering her too

Good luck all, it’s a beautiful day out there today.
May 6, 2018 at 12:27 #1353238I hope Charlie Appleby can win this, he has really deserved to land a big one
May 6, 2018 at 12:29 #1353239Cheers Nausered, I appreciate that. I’m getting a bit edgy now, as you know I bet Saxon Warrior 11/2
and 13/2, Justify 9/2 and Soliloquy 13/2 all individually. I also backed Saxon and Soliloquy in a double,
but what would be the biggie is a 20 quid treble on the 3 although they were 5/1 7/2 and 6/1 when I stuck
that on. If Soliloquy does the business I’ll be like a dog with 2 tails. I don’t normally do doubles and
very rarely do trebles, because one bugger always lets you down. I’m kind of half expecting it to come
unravelled, but I’m living in hope I can pull it off. Thing is, I won’t be home this afternoon, so I’ll
be watching the replay from behind the sofa about 5.30. I’ll return the favour, if Soliloquay doesn’t do
the business I’ll cheer Laurens home for you. Remember to send me a post card from Barbados
May 6, 2018 at 13:20 #1353244My betting interest left in the race is with O’Brien at 25’s to win the 5 classics and with Saxon winning yesterday that is still in play. Other than that I’ll be cheering home the Hannon horses. I don’t think they can be entirely ruled out although it will be tough. Vitamin has been off the track a long time she has ability but Hannon’s tend to come on for run

May 6, 2018 at 13:29 #1353245Good luck G

I really owe you a drink if either of these win today. I already had doubles, and a win treble on my three, but at 5-1, 7-1 & 10-1. After our chat the other day, I had another two doubles, and another £50 treble. I used the boost for the treble, I got 13-2, 8-1 & 10-1 on that one.
Like you mentioned, I used to only back win singles, normally at 4-1 or above. But I’m such a streaky punter, when I’m winning it normally always comes in short bursts, where they all, or most win. Since placing more doubles and trebles, when I’m supposedly running good, it’s definitely been super profitable for me so far. I’m winning this weekend whatever happens, after singles on Saxon (I backed him again at one minute past midnight in a win single at 13-2, thanks Laddies). But now today I have a chance at a really good pay day, if either, or both of these two could win.
If you have strong opinions, you have to back them. I’m convinced that Ekhtiyaar is a group race performer in a handicap, and he also loves Newmarket. Laurens is very similar to Saxon in profile yesterday, she’s likely the best horse in the race, who’s going to stay a very strongly run mile. She’s going to love the race being run at a fast pace for the Galileo fillies. If she gets beat, it will be for toe on the fastest ground she’s raced on. I’m also going to have a saver on Soliloquy G, as I see yours as the danger.
I’ll be watching on the TV, dogs have been walked and fed, bring it on.
Good luck
May 6, 2018 at 13:29 #1353246imo it’s Appleby Vs O’Brien.
I Can Fly has come in for support in recent days seemingly because she has a similar profile to Winter… And it’s true Ballydoyle often win this race with their second or third string. But with Clemmie out (where’s the wall Nathan?) could say Happily is already the second string. Winter was with a different trainer at two and showed improvement for O’Brien before the Guineas. I Can Fly was trained by O’Brien at two, didn’t show any improvement on reappearance and still has to improve quite a bit in order to win just an average Guineas. Despite several good judges tipping her is yet to shorten in today’s market. Happily already has Group 1 form that’s worked out well – beat Olmedo and Masar in the Lagadere. Olmedo ran Wooton close (pair clear) on reappearance and they’re favourites for the French 2000 Guineas. Masar won the Craven and a good third yesterday.
Appleby is in absolutely outstanding form, a rare 10 out of 10 on my trainer form. Both Soliloquey and Wild Illusion well backed this morning. Latter probably has the better form, beating the French 1000 Guineas fav Polydream. However, dam needed further at three and later won handicaps at 2m. By Dubawi whose progeny tend to stay further than he did. Whatever Wild Illusion does today chances are will do better at middle distances. Also by Dubawi but out of a mare best at shorter and speed looked Soliloquy’s forte in the Nell Gwyn, so a mile may suit better than her stable companion. However, that’s allowed for in prices. Soliloquy’s Nell Gwyn form isn’t that special, but that was only her third start.
Other Irish trainer McCreery isn’t out of it. Liquid Amber ran away with the Group 3 Flame Of Tara. That only her second start and strangely hasn’t been seen since (August). Supposedly put away for the Irish Guineas yet comes out here. Can see her running a big race and did innitially back her, have since laid her back in favour of the favourite.
I backed Laurens in the Fillies MIle last year, just holding on from the possibly unlucky September. Laurens should train on but has probably already outrun her pedigree. Stable aren’t in by no means poor form, but nothing like Appleby’s.
Others don’t seem to have the form or scope to win this.
imo Both Appleby fillies were value this morning along with (now) Happily.
Value Is EverythingMay 6, 2018 at 14:29 #1353253I was watching a gardening program half an hour ago and the tree they were looking at was called Liquid Amber, an omen?
She’s one of my Oaks fillies so looking for a good run.
Happily and I Can Fly seem weak in the betting. I don’t fancy I Can Fly at all, I don’t think her first run this season was anywhere near good enough. Her official rating of 102 just isn’t enough for me after three starts, she needs to find in excess of 10 lbs to be involved for me.
Most tips for the race on the Racing Post website is four nominations for Laurens. Saxon Warrior led the way yesterday with six tips, can lighting strike again.
I would have expected Happily to line up shorter than 3/1. Her beating of colts in the Lagardere is strong form. Masar was third in that race and runner up Olmedo is one of the leading lights in the French 2000 Guineas betting. The Breeders Cup run was a bad idea and puts me off Happily at still shortish odds.
Soliloquy won her trial nicely but I don’t think it was a strong race at all, the third filly there was shot down behind Invincible Army next time and I think Soliloquy is a bit short here. Wild Illusion was a surprise winner over Polydream in France but hasn’t been seen since. With the jockey passing on her, so must I.
I think the race has weakened with Clemmie and Veracious dropping out and the odds of Liquid Amber reflect that for me. Largely unconsidered short ago she has come right in to a single figure price. I don’t see enough form there to warrant her odds now. It’s pretty much based on one run, where the 2/7 Fav didn’t seem to last home. Not sure she has the pace for this.
Laurens set a good standard last season. I abandoned her on her final start to my own cost but in this line up she has a chance of getting that back for me. Scrambled home in the end against September but she was very positively ridden that day. She needs to have improved but there is nothing in the race, apart from a back to full form Happily, that you would sink to your knees in concern about.
1. Laurens
2. Happily
3. Altyn OrdaBest of luck everyone.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
May 6, 2018 at 15:28 #1353260It is surprising “the lads” haven’t stepped in to back Happily @ 3/1 yet, Steve. If remaining that price then it must be a negative for her chances. I wouldn’t be worried about last place in the Breeders Cup as such. Had no sort of run there and left to come home in her own time after chance had gone. Would’ve been a lot closer with the run of the race. However. there is a chance the drying ground won’t suit.
Value Is EverythingMay 6, 2018 at 15:30 #1353261Soon as I posted, the 3/1 went.

May 6, 2018 at 15:42 #1353263Erm. Where did that come from. Wd if you found it.
May 6, 2018 at 15:43 #1353264yep i was completely wrong but i wasn’t on my own the colts 100% better than fillies this year pffffffft
May 6, 2018 at 15:45 #1353265Where did that come from?

Answer: Trained less than a mile from me at Herridge.
Value Is EverythingMay 6, 2018 at 15:47 #1353266Pleased for Richard Hannon Jr after a few years in the wilderness and Sean Leavy
With the going the way it was think both Clemmie and September would of gone close but O’Brien has had 300 Group 1 winners so nice to see it go elsewhereJust seen Goreisking doing his lines
