Certify is the fav but will she train on trainer was not sure at Doncaster she got best form a group one winner and beat a group one winner in Sky Lantern.
I like a filly from France she is called
WHAT A NAME 16/1
Already beaten colts will take them on again on arc day trainer likes the guineas meeting in England so i think he bring her to Newmarket instead of France looks a classy horse.
October 2, 2012 at 17:45 #414957I think Viztoria 16’1 who ran at the Curragh on Sunday would be my choice but only if it came up soft.

There’s always the question of whether a good two year old will make up into a good three year old though Darren isn’t there? You could level that question at any two year old in training I’d have thought.
If you like the big ante post odds I think you basically have to ignore that particular point. If it is really a concern then I guess you just don’t back two year old horses ante post for the classics.
I was sweet on New Fangled (Although I could easily have seen her making up into a sprinter rather than a middle distance horse.) For my money Certify is the best looking two year old filly at this stage and I was really impressed with her win at HQ. I’ve had a few bob on at 12’s.
…which is almost certainly the kiss of death for her.
October 4, 2012 at 20:20 #415208I see they have put up Viztoria in today’s Post.
For the sake of 8 points is it worth chancing that:-
(1) Viztoria will train on any better than Certify?
(2) Her form equates to that of Certify?
(3) She will perform to a similar standard on quicker ground?
(4) She will handle Newmarket?
(5) She will even be aimed at the English Guineas?Personally, I don’t think so.

I must agree but whose to say she’ll get it soft, so if we say we make it 50/50 to get soft ground the price is more like 8/1. Might be worth a little punt though with the race still a bit away.
October 9, 2012 at 17:38 #415938How many 1000 Guineas on the Rowley Mile have been run on soft going in the last 40 years?
The chances of it being soft or worse are very slim 10% or so. That said Viztoria may not require soft ground to show her best, but merely coped with it better than her rivals.
November 6, 2012 at 14:18 #419295Viztoria met defeat today in the Gp2 Criterium at Maisons-Laffitte, beaten by Penny’s Picnic, a colt who had finished 4th of 8 and 10th of 11 behind Reckless Abandon in the two races he didn’t win.
Just The Judge at 20/1 will do for me in the race.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

Never saw the race Darren but it looked a bit of a blanket finish on paper, with about a length and a half covering the first five home. I think she is plenty short enough at 6/1 in some places now but it does look pretty wide open and she would be a definite contender if coping with travelling and facing a mile at Newmarket.

April 7, 2013 at 18:34 #435729Moth was impressive today. Up until the final furlong of today’s race thought that Aidan O’Brien had no horse with a chance in this race. The final furlong changed all that and although it was just a maiden felt there was some depth to it. And just as an aside if you get to see her take a look at her feet, they probably need special shoes for her her such are the width of them.
April 7, 2013 at 19:39 #435742No Viztoria. Damn it!
April 7, 2013 at 19:45 #435743I’ve taken a nice price on Winning Express. Impressed over sprint trips as a 2YO and think she was unlucky to only find Rhosdhu Queen too good on her final start.
The stamina is a question mark but I think she will definitely get 7f, just a question of what happens coming out of that dip at HQ.

I thought that the Irish version was always her target, the trainer said the following on 7th November shortly after she was 2nd:-
Viztoria will be prepared for the Irish 1,000 Guineas despite her defeat at Maisons-Laffitte on Tuesday.
Eddie Lynam’s filly had won her first two starts in the manner of a really smart juvenile and she confirmed that impression in Group Two company in France.
Having attempted to make all, Johnny Murtagh’s mount was caught close home over six furlongs by Penny’s Picnic and Lynam feels a step up in trip next season will see her in an even better light.
"We were happy with the filly and she’s eaten up," said Lynam.
"She’ll go on her winter break now and will be prepared for the Irish Guineas.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

Looked a typical french race to me. Not that fast a pace and she came through to win reasonably comfortably in the circumstances.
Special Duty "won" the Guineas (DQ of 1st past the post) after only coming 3rd in the same race and Natagora won it too.
Think What A Name looks the strongest contender although good to see Dermot Weld have a winner today for Big Break supporters too.
April 16, 2013 at 21:14 #436469Difficult to know what to make of the French trial. She didn’t win impressively but perhaps they only wanted to do the bare minimum? She only had to win to see her odds shorten.
Perhaps there was a case for supporting Just The Judge but she now looks very short relative to Certify.
Given the comments from Dermot Weld about his horses being behind schedule I suspect it is odds against Big Break showing up at Newmarket.
April 17, 2013 at 16:03 #436526I think theres’ a certain vulnerability about Dermot Weld horses in big races which would also put me off Big Break.
did a very good speed figure when she won last year but you just wonder.
Wasn’t particularly impressed with that Nell Gwyn form.. I realise it’s just my opinion but think the fact that Hot Snap is favourite for the Guineas is a major overreaction. Can’t have her as a classic winner at all although you do have to respect Cecil’s record with his fillies over the years.
Certify falls into the big break category.. is she a bit vulnerable? Sky lantern let her form down today. Godolphin’s two 1000 guineas runners were out with the washing last year, even if they won the year before that, that must put you off.
The one that stands out to me is this Moth. Ok purely on form and ratings she has it all to do, but we’ve seen many times with O’Brien runners that matters not a jot.
Purely as a visual impression she showed an astonishing turn of foot when winning her maiden, and she’ll do for me. Simples.
April 17, 2013 at 16:20 #436530When Sir Henry sends out the Nell Gwynn winner, do not dismiss that filly’s chance of winning the 1,000 Guineas lightly.
I recall that his one big regret was not sending Chalon for the big one at Newmarket after winning the Nell Gwynn.
Some of us though, were rewarded, when Chalon skated up in the Coronation Stakes a month or so later.
