The Triple Lock is the elephant in the budgetary room. Everyone knows it’s unsustainable and unaffordable but removing it is political suicide.
The triple lock was introduced by the Tory government and suspended for a year after covid. The pension pays roughly the same as a low paid job. Some pensioners won’t see even that.
I’ve worked with people who think that future pensioners won’t have a government pension, just a private one and with raising the pension age, those who do a physical and demanding job will struggle even more.
You've got to accentuate the positive.
Eliminate the negative.
Latch on to the affirmative.
Don't mess with mister in between.
