At least all profits go back to horse racing, which can’t be ignored with prize money being so **** poor.
As the Irish lads said Nico’s only riding good horses like CH because he’s the stable jockey not because of his ability and talent. There have been many better jockeys over the years, he’s pretty average for me.
People forget how poor Nico looked at Aintree. I can’t see how anyone could have any confidence if Nico rides him again. Get a better jockey on (Harry Cobden) and see what happens.Said as much last season but completely agree they need to try a different pair of hands on the reins and would go for Cobden.
“Three jumps fixtures and two all weather meetings on a Monday in November.”
They do even better on Wednesday and it’s not a one off, two jumps meetings but three all weather (all with 9 races) and throw in another all weather at Dundalk. The leaders of this sport have a lot to answer for. The BHA will always be the villains of the year for me.
“A very average evening card at Kempton tonight – but RTV deems it necessary to have 6 pundits on duty.”
Dire stuff from them – And they keep telling us “All profits go back to horse racing”
The guy in the corner giving all the numbers out is enough to bore anyone to tears.
As someone said the other day, far too many ex jockeys on racing coverage on tv.
I suppose it depends who the commentator is, I know Messrs O’Sullevan & Bromley quite rightly wouldn’t entertain it. I’m not a fan, if something happens during the race it’s not ideal if the commentator isn’t commentating at the time.
Think there was a good horse trained by Guy Harwood many years ago that used to have one.
Can’t see this horse ever being any value. One to avoid for me.
Helcat,
How much did it cost to get into Moonee Valley and how much did it cost to get into Sandown though? Had a quick look at the MV website and it looked like its about a fiver for general admission.
“Salty – agree with you to a point re Bookmakers greed.”
Much as I detest bookmakers, the bloated fixture list and small fields cannot be laid at their feet.
In fact they have spoken out at times, such as against so called “Super Saturday”
The blame lies with leaders of the sport. There have been far too many fixtures for years but the useless BHA continue to do absolutely nothing about it.People get these jobs and think they need to make changes to justify their position, even if they make things worse. Anyone remember that clown Jamie Stier?
Far too many races have already been moved to a Saturday, to the detriment of the sport.
And what would happen to the Midlands Grand National? It must be noted that Racing TV went split screen for The Champion Stakes with a micky mouse hurdle at Limerick.
Racing TV was originally set up as Racing UK for the benefit of British racing, that’s what it should be covering.Think they’ll be very pleased with themselves that they’ve saved Estrange for Champions Day.
The tedious televised draw on Racing TV has just got far more coverage than the actual race will get on there.
I see one or two have put up Jordan Electrics – The trainer says he wants fast ground.
Donald McCain when interviewed prior to Paws For Thought finishing 3rd on Saturday stated that he was probably running the horse over a distance too far (so it proved) but he had a good draw and they had withdrawn him the day before from a race over his ideal distance but he had a poor draw. The reason given for the withdrawal was
“unsuitable ground” yet the ground was the same both days with a going stick reading of 6.9.Why do the BHA allow this sort of thing? The horse shouldn’t have been allowed to run, they shouldn’t be allowed to declare for two races at Chester and just pick the one with the best draw.
As I said earlier, they need to change the jockey before it’s too late, although it may already be too late. He would have won 3 G1’s this season with Moore aboard. It must be gutting for the owner, Levey must think he’s riding Pegasus.
It’s hard to believe that anyone with half a brain would think it’s preferable to view a race, at a crucial part of the race from behind.
While we’re at it, what’s the point of those coloured boxes with percentages during races on Sky Sports? Just an annoyance and distraction for me.
