Astral, I’ve enjoyed this thread from the start, well done with it

Having just missed out on entering properly last year, I’m not messing about this year
Thank you for running this VTC, a fine effort, and it’s certainly better then the Tote version

What a way to bow out for Al Dancer. As much as it’s a shame that we won’t see him again, I’m glad that he went out in style
Kopek Des Bordes for me
Poster of the year – apracing is always an interesting read
Jumps horse of the year – Skyjack Hijack, as he has given connections a lot of fun, and he has certainly paid his way
Jumps jockey of the year – I’ve been impressed with Callum Pritchard
Jumps trainer of the year – Venetia Williams on recent form alone shows that she’s still one of the best
Riding Performance of the year – Callum Pritchard on Al Dancer.
Broadcaster of the year – Lydia Hyslop, still the best
Racecourse of the year – Local bias, but I just can’t see past Hexham, they do well for a smaller track. Great views, and always well organised meet
One to watch 2025 – Kopek Des Bordes looks like a horse with a big future
Commentator of the year – Gareth Topham gets better every year
Thread of the year – TRF Ten To Follow because it’s better than the real one which is soon to be no more
Thank you VtC for allowing me to take part after the deadline, and thanks also to David for his help.
It’s no real shock to see the Tote version come to an end. The lack of interest in the flat version was probably a key factor, not to mention that it’s not much fun navigating their site, and with no real effort from them to improve it either.
I’m obviously not in contention for any prize here, but it’s my own fault for losing my log in
FWIW, my ten would have been;
Ballyburn
Constitution Hill
Edwardstone
Fact To File
Gaelic Warrior
Galopin Des Champs
Ginny’s Destiny
Lossiemouth
State Man
ZanahiyrHowever, as I’m not in contention, like many others in this, I’ve went with my own ten. I would be happy with a handful of winners over the piece
Afadil
Bob Olinger
Edwardstone
Fugitif
Liari
Lump Sum
Gunsight Ridge
Stage Star
Stay Away Fay
ZanahiyrGood luck to everyone who are in it to win it
Green, congratulations on what was an easy winner.
I like this horse too. I’m hoping that they keep at him during the winter, with that New Years Day Chase at Tramore a possible race for him
He was, without a doubt the standout broadcaster and writer of recent times. As Peter alludes to earlier in the thread, we really did have it so good with the classic Channel 4 team. A big loss
I’ve had Santos Bluenin mind for this race for some time now. I think that he has a better chance than his 20-1 suggests, and I’ll bet him here once weekend entries are confirmed
I’ve had a few good attempts in the ten to follow over the years, without being involved at the business end, but I have to improve on my abject display the last two years. I’ll be putting in several lists into the tote competition, so I’ll throw a few pounds the way of this competition too. Venture, please let me know how to contribute, and will donate a few pounds
Best wishes and good luck to all
