@patriot1 it didn’t work Musselburgh were off late most of the afternoon, having an 8 min gap between a 4m race was stupid.

There were few split screens because nothing major happened but Lingfield earlier in afternoon went off before Wetherby had finished and it was badly planned.

Though I suspect the BHA will think like you and it went wonderfully when it in some respects made things worse.

Also the fact that itv clearly were not involved and all races shown on itv had to be on a 5 min scale.

Oh dear even Alex Hammond laughing at the joke race times today

    Musselburgh 3.15 4m finished at 3.25

3.23 at Wetherby goes off at 3.26

Lingfield have to wait for Wetherby to finish and end up off at 3.32.

With Champions League rights the problem for itv is BT Sport is showing all the games at the same time and has shown itself to provide the coverage that they want, itv on the other hand is not going to put games on all it’s channels at the same time it would drive people to other channels and away from itv if they don’t like football, there is a reason itv3 show Midsomer Murders when itv has a football match on.

itv want Liverpool matches and BT are not going to give away the rights to them, what possibly could BT sell to itv that itv would want to put on it’s flagship channel at primetime other than Liverpool or Man Utd?

The 2017 agreement was handled solely by RMG this time the deal has to be ratified by RMG, ARC and Ascot.

From what I have read itv have proposed £30m-£40m but Ascot has not agree this yet, also there is a new issue itv want Champions League football back and they want Champions League football over anything else which means with only a limited pot horse racing could lose out if itv lose patience with the three parties and decide bidding more for the Champions League is in their interests.

Ascot were originally given a deadline of the end of August last year to agree to a proposal by itv it appears Ascot issue is under the new deal proposed by itv they would in effect received a pay cut.

itv were said to be frustrated last August so goodness knows how frustrated they must be now and might just think sod it let’s pay more for Champions League.

Last August ARC were 95% happy with the itv proposal but were concerned about their partners Ascot which is why they were not 100% in favour.

Another issue is that under the current tv deal ARC does not receive a rights fee from itv as it was a deal negotiated with RMG under the new deal ARC would have to be paid a rights fee and possibly Ascot too or depending on the current deal Ascot may have been part of the RMG fee as it was partnered with them at that time.

Well done to the thick race schedulers again for this Saturday

    Lingfield 12.15
    Kempton 12.20
    Fairyhouse 12.25
    Wetherby 12.30
Warwick 12.40 then 15 min gap to next jump meeting

So instead of sticking Kempton at 12.15 and putting Lingfield at 12.20 they now have three jumps meetings with 5 minute gaps all afternoon.

Oh my goodness this is nonsense on rtv today, they even did a split screen between the 12.25 at Catterick and 12.30 at Musselburgh when Musselburgh hadn’t jumped.

So the irish authorities have as many brain cells as the UK ones

Limerick x.05 Down Royal x.10, Leopardstown x.20 then 20 minute gap to x.40

New Year’s Day you won’t get much Irish as they trying to fit 6 meetings in plus isn’t it an embarrassment that a tv channel has to go begging to another broadcaster to show their content.

The whole process across the UK and Ireland needs changing, the courses tv rights need a thorough review.

Free Sports is not subscription so will Virgin viewers get free access or will they block access if you don’t subscribe to Rtv?

Well they still have 5 jumps meetings to fit in per hour and I bet your life Virgin media viewers will not get an extra channel I bet it’s some sort of red button thing for Sky only.

Interesting HRI and general manager of Punchestown claim they have a good relationship with rtv and there seems to be no regrets with the change of channel.

Though like the poster above they are worried about St Stephen’s Day but with 8 courses mostly jumps what on earth can Rtv, HRI or anyone do to fit in 8 meetings an hour it is impossible.

To be honest 10 fixtures on one day is ridiculous if SSR had the irish it would at least have been 5 on each channel but neither channel can do much with that amount of tracks to cover.

In two years time the rights to the irish racing will be back up for grabs for 2023, you can just bet in about 20 months time you will see a sudden upturn in the coverage of Irish racing from rtv and suddenly British courses who tracks are not due for imminent renewal will suddenly take a backseat.

The question is will the HRI/AIR drop the deal they have with SIS which is what caused the switch in the first place, if they do SSR will come into play if they don’t SIS deal with Rtv will no doubt be renewed plus expect RMG to offer so sort of concession in 2022.

SIS are the main reason Rtv is oversubscribed, SIS own shares in Leicester, Stratford & Chelmsford which is why the switched as well from ATR, so it is all down to SIS keeping the irish contract and the Rtv pictures deal.
