Well, as i said credit where it`s due, and it certainly was in this case.

Looking at this section of the forum, it is clear that there are a number of members who have very good tipping strengths, and good profits can be made from playing to those strengths.
All tips are put up in good faith, and i wish everyone well for being brave enough to put themselves in the firing line, and to be honest, many have their own style away from the norm, which can be a great asset.

Always up for a days racing so a TRF day out could well be a good idea, although Ginge would be the first to admit that his sense of direction aint the best – if you suggest Sandown, he`d probably end up in Salisbury!!

Best of luck with your new venture.

Apologies for hijacking your thread somewhat Gordie, but i have just noticed an earlier post from Gdc1 and i have a couple of questions i would like to ask him.

Firstly, why would you think that Ginge would feel the need to be jealous of Gordie when he makes his own regular decent profits?

And secondly, and i would ask for your help here, as i cannot seem to find any posts where Ginge has selected 8 or 9 runners in a 12 horse race – perhaps you can direct me there?

    Thanks in advance.

Great comeback yesterday Ginge, superb couple of results which wiped away the losses of Saturday, and a whole lot more!!

Will see if i can sort out the Exacta and Trifecta p/l`s from the start of the flat, as you picked up another Exacta yesterday which paid £15.90.

Good morning Gordie, i too would like to add my congratulations on Dawn Approach`s victory on Saturday.

As you know, i have been one of your fiercest critics ,particularly in your day to day betting in recent times, but you have certainly shown your ability to spot horses for the future from a long way off and follow it through to the conclusion, well done and a superb outcome – keep up the good work in this area. Will certainly be on the lookout for the next crop you put up for early gambles :D

Looks to be a lucrative area for you Ginge, nice going.

For future reference I would also suggest seriously looking at the combi exacta/trifectas in this section too as you would have bagged them both again in this race.

A 7 horse combi Exacta would cost 42 points and yesterday returned 190.7 points, and the full 7 horse combi Trifecta would be 210 points laid out and returned 1,882.2 points. However by including just one of the main selections -excluding On Trend that is-as a banker, the outlay would be reduced to 90 points.

Keep it going at this rate Ginge and could prove to be a bit of a cash cow

Unfortunately Softie, unless I have a bet in the Swinton – this thread will be moth balled until at least late October, as I don’t agree with Summer jumping.

I had a late top up on Same Difference Softie, so it didn’t make much difference at all to me who won yesterday. Had I done a combination bet yesterday I’d have kept On Trend in and left out Well Refreshed and Hadrians Approach.

What I could do Softie is: Next season when I have a lot of bets in a race I will mark those punters might like to include in combos. Possibly up to 5 horses. Can’t say that I will have time to do a p/l on these though.

Do you think it’s best to do this for all races? Or just the Big races? Or just the big field handicaps?

That`s why i said for future reference Ginge, i knew that this thread would soon end for the season.
Difficult to know whether you should extend to other races without going back through the thread ,but the success in particular seems to have come in these bigger staying chases, and the dividends will almost always be greater here. this is the area to concentrate on to start but patience will need to be applied – at least these posts will be at the end of the seasons thread and can be picked up early next jump season.

Maybe have a look at the larger field flat handicap races and see how it goes for now.

The point i was making about adding a banker selection into the trifecta mix was purely for stake reduction, so maybe nominate what you feel is your main 2 bets for the race, and let others decide how or even whether they wish to play, but keep the main bets and savers as you would usually do.

I will keep tabs on them and see what arises – maybe on all races and then filter from there?

Excellent winner with Sugar Boy Ginge, who showed a terrific attitude when headed to get back up to win.

Wondering if this is a sign of the times and we can expect far more Irish raiders in future, mind you,it can hardly be for our dismal prize money methinks?

Purely out of interest and nothing else, here is the Pricewise view on the 5.30 race to throw into the mix.

    "7-1 Captain Chris
    to take command

BAR Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Bobs Worth and to a lesser extent The Giant Bolster, it is hard to think of a leading staying chaser who is missing from the Bet Online With TheTote.com Punchestown Gold Cup this evening, writes Tom Segal.

Gold Cup runner-up Sir Des Champs and King George winner Long Run line up, as well as the Aintree winner First Lieutenant, but it could be worth splitting stakes on a couple of British challengers who haven’t had things go right for the most part this season but have everything in their favour today.

The first of them is Captain Chris, who is a top-class chaser on his day and especially good when going right-handed.

He was narrowly beaten by Long Run in the King George in terrible ground at Kempton and looked like giving Cue Card plenty to think about at Ascot before making a terrible mistake two out. Forget his run in the Gold Cup last time because the Hobbs horses didn’t excel at Cheltenham and he is nowhere near as good that way round.

Menorah has bounced back from a poor run at Cheltenham to run two crackers and the Hobbs horses always seem to run well at Punchestown, as Planet Of Sound demonstrated by winning this race three years ago.

The other one to back is Riverside Theatre, who I think has been crying out for three miles and a right-handed track. Despite winning last year’s Ryanair, Riverside Theatre seems to hate Cheltenham and he is much better than he showed there last month. He ran his usual get-behind-and-stay-on-late race but his old Ascot form is miles better than that and every time he runs he looks like he’s crying out for three miles.

This season has been a bit of a write-off for Riverside Theatre as he had bad stomach ulcers prior to running badly in the King George and his only other run was in the Ryanair. Today he gets the chance to show what he can do at what I think is going to prove to be his best trip and on a track that should suit. He is much too big a price on his best form and is coming here fresh against a whole host of staying chasers who have been on the go all season.

Any of Sir Des Champs, Long Run or First Lieutenant can win, but at this stage of the season they have the type of profile I like to take on. Sir Des Champs had a hard race in the Gold Cup and finished tired, Long Run’s form has seemingly tailed off a bit and First Lieutenant has been to Aintree after Cheltenham and will have to be as good as ever to win today."

I reckon the one top class horse who is SO ground dependant is Overturn.

Don`t think he`s had ground he enjoys for some considerable time, so, if he is still at the top of his game, today might well see him at his best.

Alderwood ,however, seems to be improving at a rate of knots….lip smacking contest today i think.

There is one other horse that i feel cannot be ignored Ginge,- Suunyhill Boy.

Appreciate that his fitness needs to be taken on trust, and i hear what you say in terms of his mark, BUT, could be in the shake up if all is well, and at 25`s in places and 32 now on Betfair, is worthy of a little interest.
Drying ground would also be in his favour.

Excellent call yesterday Ginge, and a nice profit from just one race.

Strange day Saturday though, seemed to be all or nothing with selections either running very well  or really poorly
