I was thinking the same Tete Rouge. Very speedy reply! Thanks very much to TRF for organising it and for Luke doing it.

Well, ain’t Angus Loughran the luck chap! No-one has touched him. I have to say that commentating must be one of the hardest jobs in racing after the slating some of the commentators get so I apologise in advance commentators. We love you really .

I did struggle in voting for someone here but sorry Big Mac…it had to be you. I like Tommo. I actually thought he was the most genuine presenter out of the lot and the most liked…until I read this thread! But I stand by you Tommo. I like the BBC team – I think Claire Balding is genuine, I also think Willie Carson is funny and I don’t mind Pitman and Scu tooooo much although one of them probably would have got my vote if it wasn’t Big Mac. My problems with those two have already been raised on this thread. I also have no problem with Graham Goode, Walter Swinburn or Lesley Graham. There, the truth is out!

NH NH NH NH NH NH NH NH

It is the ONLY reason I look forward to winter.

Flat racing is fine up until a point. I can only watch it for so long then I get bored of it. It just doesn’t ”capture my imagination” whilst I could sit and watch NH racing until the purple and pink cows come home! By end of summer, I am in desperation for return of jumps. I prefer the ”characters” in jump racing, and the horses, and the atmosphere. Now there ain’t nothing wrong with the flat characters, horses, atmosphere but I feel more ”comfortable” in a jumps atmosphere if that makes sense?? Anyway, I prefer NH!

Don’t give them ideas! Don’t worry, they’ll move onto eventing soon enough.

What p****s me off most about these anti groups is that they think they can make decisions for us. Whatever happened to freedom of choice/speech. If you don’t like it, ignore it. We don’t stuff our opinions in your faces so don’t stuff your opinions in ours. The Grand National has undoubtedly become ”tamer” in recent years, and undoubtedly will become even more tamer in years to come. Why don’t they just leave it at that!

Jim, when I watch the Grand National from decades ago, I believe it has become fairer, and will become even fairer. If I’d the choice between jumping the GN fences now and the fences 50 years ago, I know I’d choose todays. Saying that, I can barely even jump a showjump .

To me, the reduced fatality rate stands for something.

I agree with you Ali that sme of the runners shouldn’t be there. However, to me personally, the NH season just wouldn’t be the NH season without 1.) Cheltenham Festival and 2.) Aintree.
