Hiya donks,
By the sound of it you had more patience than I would have had.Basically I would do what Sharon says and write to Eddie Gillespie and see what happens.I would’nt let it rest, making a fuss is good, plus it may make you feel better.Send in a letter to the RP as well.

Shame you had to endure this and hope it wont put you off future visits to the track or any track for that matter..

    Thommo…….see majority on this
And I have to say that the Beeb commentary team and presenters are the worst I have heard. If they dont get the names of the horses wrong, its usually W.Carson talking about a horses form and getting it totally wrong !!!!!!
If C.Balding was’nt their the Beeb may as well just sack it.

    Big Mac……..Adds character to Ch4 team and I think he’s great.( sad….mmmmm)
Hi Gearoid,
Getting on you nerves this thread I think.By what i can tell you loved the horse and had every faith in the bugger. Now I aint going to disagree with you on that cos I lost just a bit more on him than you did as I had no reason to believe he would be beat…..(gutted me !!)
This ‘story’ or whatever you wanna call it came from a man who has just come back over from Ireland and his exact words where "Paddy Power took 100,00 Euros on Monday for Isty" Duty rumour now in Ireland is that JP MAY have done it………………….alledgedly.
I know your over their mate so see if you can shed any light on it for us and tomorrow when I see him I’ll ask where he saw the bet recorded………

                                          :) :) :)

    MY TURN………………………

I hear people say Istabraq was 8/1 to be pulled up or not finish…?? Nice price !!!!!!!!!!!

I wonder who placed 100,000 Euros on Isty with Paddy Power at 8/1 the day before he ran………….
Bit of a scam or just pure innocence………?????????

Carrying on from my last scribble and from a punting point of view (the object of gambling is to win ?….)
If the horse is 10/1 (1/4) the odds or whatever…Is’nt it better to only lose some of your stake and not all of it ???we do all know we do all gamble to WIN dont we, and put less money in the bookies pocket ??
Or am I missing something ?

Quite a simple reply from me is that if i can bet on a horse e/w and make some form of profit, then where is the problem of say backing a 12/1 shot e/w(1/5odds)or(1/4 odds).
I have to disagree about the ‘comfort blanket for long losing runs'
So if you can make a profit from doing e/w ,I dont think it is a waste of time.

All in all I get fed up of all this year after year.
ALI…..You mentioned the fences, yep their big,but if you have a chase race and a horse dont pick up it’s going to injure itself. So in reality this could happen any time and any day,so why pick out the National. Why not pick a 2miler at Fontwell???.I do believe horses are quite clever and if the horse does’nt want to jump…he/she wont.
Why dont we look at the stats since the national started and look at the ratio of runners to deaths. !!!!

Jim…….Large fields,If you actually go to the course and look their is ample room for them all and they all dont run in a straight line do they.
Ditches and Water Jumps…..are their not ditches and water jumps at any other NH venue
Large Obstacles….see what I said to Ali.

I know this is a bit of a touchy subject but I’m just giving my opinion and dont want to upset or I aint having a go at anyone………….
