I don’t think just any old "journeyman jockey" could have got KrisKin up to win the Derby like that, and, yes, I may be talking through of my pocket.
I was happy with the 13/1 about the winner.

As for the man himself, I’ve never had any problems; wouldn’t always win when I thought he would, but, then, that’s racing, imo. I used to make a profit from his efforts, so no complaints from me.

Now, if I were to set out to find a pleasant, sociable, morally sound, well-rounded, stable group of people, I’m afraid the racing industry is the last place I’d look!
I love racing, but I have to admit that it has some of the most horrible, boastful, aggressive, drunken, boring, untrustworthy folk I’ve ever met in the world.

Just my own experience, of course. Indeed, it could be that I’m no more than just another piece of "lowlife", so, perhaps, my views should be discounted.

Racing is not a sport, it’s a business, and not always a very nice one. I accept it for what it is.

I think those, who reckon to be trying to protect racing’s image etc,. might do far more good by turning their guns on the known corrupt layers who have been warned off already by racing’s authorities.

Aren’t these corrupt unlicensed layers far more harmful to racing than this outstanding jockey, who, despite being only six stone in weight when he left school, managed to make good in a hard game?

Yes, that’s a wonderful, well- thought-out, plan, imo, AP.

I know you have the relevant skill, expertise. and experience. to understand and formulate this idea, but, as Ricky has suggested, it is not so certain that the "rulers of racing" will feel able to implement it.

It’s a bit too sensible for them, perhaps?

I am an extreme enemy of dross racing, so I welcome your proposals. The current situation IS dire, imo, yet I am pro -AW.
AW gets plenty of flak because of the current set-up. Your changes would straighten matters quickly.

Those in charge should listen to you.

    Thanks, Carvillshill.

When I used to be keen on this bet, I found myself almost hoping that the first leg was placed rather than a winner!

A bit silly, but it meant that, in effect, my bet going onto the second was a "place double". Sometimes paid disproportionately well when odds were low.

If I fancied the second selection to win, I would sometimes have another small bet, win only, if the first selection had not won.

The ED option seemed to be six of one and half a dozen of the other. I never did decide whether it helped in the long run.

Now you’ve rekindled my interest, I may give this EW Double idea a spin once again. Thanks for the thread!

And is it true that the Reduction Factor swings things in favour of backers versus layers?

I would strongly agree that there is a surfeit of dross in modern racing. Not so sure thatthis is all the fault of the bookmakers. I think the breeding industry needs to make some drastic changes.

Btw, is it a fact that 14 runner handicaps are good races for bookies? What are the figures?

Yes, Aidan, I’d heard about that too.

Just wondering whether there’s any time limit on these samples?

On the AW in UK, there is quite a rush to get winning horses to the "dope pen" for their samples to be taken. Perhaps these samples stay "fresh" long enough to be significant almost for ever? I wouldn’t have thought so myself, but I’m no expert at all on drugs.

That said, I am convinced that the use of drugs is very commonplace among top people from the worlds of showbizz, sport, business, and the legal and medical professions.
Drink, which was long the drug of choice in the racing world, is, apparently, "old hat" nowadays.

I have to admit that I cannot keep up to speed with all the changes in society.

Anyway, I’ll be glad when the result of this important B Sample is released.

Thank you both for the welcome and for the replies!

The same question is discussed on the other thread. If, as so many in the media seemed to assume before the trial, KF had been sent to the calaboose, then I suppose the B Sample test would never have taken place, or, at least, would have been delayed by x number of months.

    Thank you for the replies.

So, is it thought that the delay is caused by the Fallon side, in that they want Fallon to be there in Hong Kong in person to witness the tests?

I was wondering whether there is a "best before" date on these samples. Some of the posters here seem to know a lot about drugs; does anyone know if these samples deteriorate with time?

Certainly, the process seems to take much longer than the breathalyser!

Does anybody know why the publication of the "B Sample" results has taken so long?
