Shouldn’t have been anywhere near this race, obviously wasn’t remotely competent over fences, the trainer would’ve known that, but still threw him in with 140+ rated hurdlers.

You could tell after the first fence then he should just be pulled up and taken back safely to the stables for a rethink, after the second it was just blatantly obvious. The horse was not comfortable, there was no chance to finish within half a mile of the rest and there was a pointless danger to the horse and rider.

Trainer and jockey should hang their heads, I hope they have a sleepless night. Pathetic. The horse didn’t deserve to end a long career like that.

Absolutely gutted by this, such a wonderful day of racing and plenty of profit made, but I’d quite happily chuck it all in and more to have this horse up and running again.

Such a good natured and promising horse, rest well you beautiful thing.

Can’t argue with that sum up The Young Fella.

I would say that Trifolium will be there, but as you say, his finish will probably leave him with just a place.

I also agree about Valdez and think the ground drying up is to his benefit.

Hurricane fly is obviously the class horse, but 3 runs over fences, he’s only won one against a poor field, excuses or not, he didn’t win like he should and that’s a worry enough for me to stay well clear. The same with Rock on Ruby really, inexperienced, two gentle paced practices over fences and I also don’t think he’s the horse he was, has the quality to prove me wrong though.

I personally don’t think Dodging bullets is good enough, period.

So Valdez and Trifolium for me, but the ground and shorter odds are making Trifolium less attractive by the minute.

Un De Sceaux not being at Cheltenham doesn’t make sense to me, well it does because he’s never experienced anything like it, so why chuck him straight in for a possible Champion Hurdle spot? Was he just a back up pace setter in case the likes of Captain Cee Bee and Jezki weren’t running??

His last 3 races he’s started at 1/16, 1/12 and 1/14. No 6 year of his quality should have to run in so many mismatched fields. I don’t know why he hasn’t been stepped up in quality, but I’m looking forward to seeing what he can actually do!

But his chase times weren’t anything, he wasn’t pushed, that and up against only 1 poor horse each time is nothing like having to perform in a big field of quality horses and needing to be at his best to win.

He’s a risk that’s for sure, obviously a quality horse and has a chance, but in my opinion his age and inexperience is surely enough to steer clear at that price??

You know what that all means? He’ll jump flawlessly and win by 10 lengths!

The more I think about it, the more baffled and unsure I am about this race, it gives me a head ache. I almost don’t want to bet and have a bias towards a horse, I just want to sit back and enjoy it.

Any horse could win this, I think it’ll either be a battle between HF and OC (which is what I’m leaning towards at the moment) or MTOY and TNO. Jezki and MR can win too, but would have to be at their very very best.

Who knows, fascinating stuff, only the going on the day or how they are in the Parade ring could sway my decision I think. Can’t wait!

At more reasonable odds now, but looking unlikely he’ll run. Never thought it would be likely, hasn’t been trusted against a good field and I think if he ran it would hurt Hurricane Fly’s chances, which could see neither of them getting close.

Shame, as said, his change of gear on the weekend was so effortless is was almost spine tingling. Would love to see him tested, but will probably have to wait, a horse to watch none the less.

I’m not convinced by The New One or Our Conner just yet, I think my money will be going on Hurricane Fly.
