Going is currently Good at Punchestown. Will they only run NP on Soft ground, or is it that he is restricted to that because he is seen to best effect on it? (Can’t believe it isn’t soft everywhere – I got soaked through three times this week.)It’s not a handicap? But according to RP.co.uk it says that;
Casey Jones and Notre Pere are carrying 11-10
One Cool Cookie, Royal County Star and War of Attrition have 11-6
Chelsea Harbour and Kilcrea Castle have 11-3
And Ponmeoath has 11-0I could easily be wrong and have buggered something up along the lines, but does that not make it a handicap? (hard to believe i’ve been into racing for 11 years)
I don’t think they’re too big for him. He may not be my personal pick of the bunch, but i’d put him in there…
There’s a race on Thursday; the 4:45 at Punchestown that has really grabbed my attention. It’s a 3m, 1 and has some really notable names in there…
Notre Pere, War of Attrition, Chelsea Harbour among others. This one is going to be an awesome race. My money at the moment is going towards Notre Pere (not surprising considering he’s on my ‘to watch’ list)
Had Ellerslie George at Bangor today. He ran another corker. I knew he would run well, considering the way he won he outing before today. I would actually add him on the list to follow.
Black Apalachi – I’ve loved this horse since early ’08. Although his handicap mark is going to be harsh throughout the season; i think we have potential here and at 10 going on 11 we should still get some good runs from him. First step; The Becher Chase.
Notre Pere – If i didn’t know any better; i’d say we may be looking at a future champion in future staying chases. He’s a brute and one i would seriously consider for a future National.
Snoopy Loopy – Sure he’s on the older side, but he’s clearly a class act and i think we’re in for some more "surprises" from him this season.
I’ve got a pair on hold at a local camera shop. They’re a German Zeiss and are 8×30… would you say that’s too small or just about right?
Oh, i best add that i’m a "trainee" commentator and am doing a couple point to points in jan/feb, so would i need specific binoculars for when i commentate or does it not make that much of a difference?
I wear glasses, so it seems 12×50 is my best option…
