I hope some of you managed to get on! such a close finish I nearly thought he wasn’t getting there but managed to pull out enough at the finish like I mentioned earlier the offset of others dropping down the weights meant a finish like that was probably in order.

Well done Stuart Williams and J-P’G

    I see

    Ginger Ted

is running in the 4:30 Lingfield today currently priced at

    11/4

which is quite short given there are a few in this race slipping down the handicap where it would offset his advantage.

Not sure if I feel confident enough to back him outright at that price, although sprint speed ratings tend to be more reliable in getting the job done.

I’m beginning to have my suspicions to whether Darren is actually TAPK, this forum does your mental health no good!

The categories offer varied information but if you were to ask me what was relevant on assessing a horses potential running in the future then you can narrow it down to 1 or 2.

    Current Form (Last 2 runs) = 5
Winnng Form going Left or Right Handed = 2
    Recent Run = 2
Trainer Current Strike Rate = 2

    Not applicable.

    Jockey Current SR = N/A
    Trainer Course SR = N/A
    Jockey Course SR = N/A
Overall Career Win Record = N/A
Winning Form at Track = N/A
Winning Form over Distance = N/A
Winning Form in Class = N/A
    Odds / Position in Market = N/A

Maybe it’s time the Derby was more of a middle distance test by being dropped to a distance of 10f, much like the French Derby.

    Expected.

This could be the end for Dettori, shame it was so nice just having him around on the big n little days.

Channel 4 racing would fit in most living rooms on a Saturday afternoon 1970, there’s no denying that.

As a possible medium for making the sport more attractable it falls way short of the levels expected and in general it makes me sad to think this is the best we can come up with.

I’m forever disputing rating with Timeform but they do have the impossible task of comparing generations.

They very much tie themselves to all Group winners who are beaten by the Nijinsky’ of racing being much the same as a a guide.

You only need to listen them and you here it often enough he won x amount of group racing and beat x amount of group winner.

Too bad if the Group race they won were crap there’s not a lot of room to be playing with.

Rated between 130 and 133 there are 10 horses in Europe currently crammed together.

Going back 40 years and trying to cram that lot in is an impossible task.

It doesn’t really matter to the individual what Timeform think if Nijinsky gave you the buzz that said this horse would have destroyed Sea the Stars and he gort your heart pumping I’d say your probably right.

That is where I dispute Frankel’s right to have ousted Sea-Bird both would have knocked your socks off I simply couldn’t split them but probably for commercial reasons Timeform saw the opportunity and took it. Do they think Frankel in their heart of hearts was the greatest of all time?……some perhaps but not all.

One of the best we’ve ever seen is about the most used phrase by trainers this week very few say he is the greatest of all time.

I’m a Secretariat man: Frankel awesome display in the Guineas 15 lengths clear after 4 furlong made all won by a diminishing 5 lengths clearly running out of petrol in the closing stages

Secretariat in the Belmont Stakes went 15 lengths clear….then 20 then 25 then increased the distance to a staggering 31 lengths and clocked furlong after furlong at top speed.

If Frankel is 147 horse in my book Secretariat was a 151 horse At the end of the day it’s only an opinion and proves nothing.

Probably the biggest load of codswallop I have ever witnessed on this forum, it’s so big I even considered leaving the room for 5 minutes to catch my breath.

but Mr Carson should have been given some training years ago or had his contract terminated.

What and have a show like Channel 4? no thanks.

Bloody hell I’ve only just noticed

    Get me out of here

won a 4 horse race at 2/1 today beating the ‘Over-rated’ 161 ‘Brampour! I think those that know me know I’d have lumped on today, particularly knowing Jonjo’s horses are in form!

Just claim it anyway mate, add it to your portfolio because no one’s really going to notice unless you’re Gingertipster and have 24 hours in your day to scroll through the archives :D

I see Pires who was third behind Brassbound "Raced in mid-division, pushed along to take close order inside final 2f, went 3rd final furlong, never troubled principals (op 8-1)" won today at Cork, 5-2 fav.

To be honest I’ve never seen Excelebration possess that turn of foot when he eye balled Cityscape, you could be forgiven for thinking he was running on firm ground but visually looking at the ear quarters of the horse I felt in my chest the power behind the saddle and was taken by the shear velocity in which Excelebration quickened almost skipping the realms of time as you blinked felt you had been stuck in an ice age in reference to the last visual position pre-blink in relation to post-blink.

    Sensational it really was.

I was crying in my sleep two years ago when Timeform & Official Handicappers rated Dream Ahead level with Frankel as a two year old, it made my stomach turn that such a professional organization could be so dismissive and lack the validity in their approach.

Now we have the same people two years on debating whether to put Frankel ahead of Dancing Brave? De Ja Vu, what’s the betting they do the same.

    Great performance by

    Excelebration

yesterday and I do believe he would have beaten Frankel with that performance (New tactics + Ground swing) or at least have gone very close in doing so, probably lucky they didn’t meet him on that form.

Nothing of note at Wolverhampton yesterday but I do believe there have been a few opportunities missed in Ireland over the past couple of months whilst catching up on Dundalk.

Let me start with October the 12th.

    80.13

    Carpathia

    86.31

    Spirituality

    82.15

    Lines of Battle

    85.93

    Prince of Fire

    91.50

    Brassbound

    85.15

    Moo Sahara

    Variance:

    1.10 (Standard)

    You’ll immediately see

    Brassbound

catches the eye, well it’s true he does in what was a good time on the day as I’ve got him running +0.31s over the 12f at Dundalk which catapults him to around Listed level but having put the Listed par on he comes to

    93.07

which is short of the Listed Speed Rating: 96.00+ and shows the par would be -4.40 equating to -1.45s and dividing the initial 0.31s standard improvement by the 1.45s before using the difference to come back 0.11s from the listed standard we get the

    0-100 Benchmark

which shows a near 100% par and speed rating of

    92.02

    .

Looking at the Official Rating the run was worthy of a 9lbs improvement bringing the winner up from

    72

    to

    81

and plenty more action this winter either over hurdles or on the All Weather.

I love Willie Carson, he’s such a great personality and wish him all the best in the future.

Great performance by him and Clare Balding today, I am going to miss those two!

With Frankel (comparitively) struggling to get home today.

Missed the break 4l and on the bridle at the furlong pole, struggled badly – he’d of won the ‘Arc by a length or two on that performance.
