Too true, Stevie. That was like missing a three foot putt, by reading too much into it. That’s what i deserved for not having enough confidence to back Brown Panther. The winner was impressive though. Well in.

Once a ginger, always a ginger. Embrace it. Despite what 99.9% of the planets population say, there is nothing wrong with those who have ginger hair, or the confused breed of redheads who lock themselves in a garden shed with a bottle of paroxide to attain the strawberry effect. They have feelings, just like everybody else. Oh that’s right, Toormore is 14/1 with ‘Racebets’ for the SJP. It won’t last much longer, now that he’s being aimed there. GL with your bet at Navan.

I wrote my reply last night/early hours, but didn’t hit the send button because i didn’t place the bet first, so i saved what i typed.

Your views on Tiger Cliff are interesting. I thought about asking you about him the other day, but i was slightly put off by the trainers comments with regards to ground preference. He certainly ticks a few boxes, and i much prefer him at the prices to Eye of the storm, because rightly or wrongly, i see this as a race where O’brien would only have one prepped for, and that’s the short priced Leading Light, who gives 8lbs to a potential gold cup horse in pale mimosa at Navan tomorrow, who to me should win, and go to Ascot with a chance. I like Welds horse, and before she ran a good at Ascot, Pat Smullen chose her over the winner of the Irish leger. The horses you mention have class, but one or two of them are too short for me. I think i’ll go single on Tiger Cliff @ 33/1, Pale Mimosa at 20/1, and i’d say i’ve now relegated Brown Panther to a saver, so if he wins i will buy a voodoo doll with ginger hair.

Would you say Brown Panther is reasonable at 10s for the GC ? i’d say it’s not bad myself. Some in there are more ground dependant, and shorter priced. I’ll back him anyway, and probably Astaire for the 6f race at Ascot at 25/1.

Daryl Jacobs didn’t do too much wrong this season. There has never been any loyalty at Ditcheat,

Nicholls has spent far too long listening to Alex Ferguson

and trying to apply a system that works in football, to horse racing. Hence the massive turnover in horses and people, but the main thing to take out of Ditcheat is that this ‘show’ is about Nicholls and his career as a trainer and lining his pockets.

I’ve thought the same before. Nicholls does strike me as someone who has been paying too much attention to Ferguson.

They drop out because they arent getting the right horses. Stoute has won a kg, derby and arc in the past 5 years, hardly poverty. If he gets the right ones, im sure the result will be the same as it would have years ago. A trainer is only as good as his yard imo.

That’s true Ginge. It’s too easy to write folk off. Plus Stevie, i was wondering what someone would be capable of doing 20 years ago, that they can’t do now, in terms of how they train a horse ? I’ve also saw the word ‘genuis’ being branded about to describe trainers. Well, i’m sure there was a geordie trainer who said ‘anyone could do it’, after a horse he ran won a race at one of the good flat meetings last year(may have been ascot) ?

p.s after reading sportinglife, i think it would have been Ellison and top notch tonto, maybe after he ran a big race behind Olypic Glory.

Hey Ginge, hope all is well dude. I thought i’d log in and wish you the very best, as you know i’ve always supported you and your threads(which i read on the regular). I can’t pay any compliments, as it’s gotten to the stage that if you don’t win the national or post a profit, i’d be suprised. Nothing much is popping off for me on the ante posts, which is the method i prefer. I suppose the ones i’m looking out for are Telescope for the King George at 12/1, though Gosden used Telescope recently as a hype horse, which is never good as he’s a good judge. Erm..what else have i got that may still be available…ummm i got Bunker fore the derby at 40s(as an angle), and my main hope is Captain Conan for the Champion Chase at 25s. I have noticed though that good old Nicky has been rushing horses to the festival, so i don’t know if Conan will reapear like Simonsig didn’t. Enjoying your posts my dude, and i’ll make the odd contribution on your thread if you don’t mind, as i suck at making threads. For some odd reason i do better when i don’t advetise my bets.

I’m not ‘offended’ by the gamble, as Mike puts it. I just don’t see successful plotters as anything more than people who are in it for themselves, and therefore they are not my robin hood. I don’t think it’s good for the balance of the game, but we all look for holes in handicap marks, so it is what it is. I’d do it myself if i could get away with it. It renders alot of the game unattractive from a punters point of view, so people who care about the sport have every right to have a problem with it, whether it’s above board or not. Until a new system is implemented, then the cycle will repeat. Would less horses make the track if it was tougher to land a touch ?
We can all disagree or want rid of things that are legal and not breaking any rules, such as FOBT’s, ain’t that right Mike ?

Will Joe Public have the awareness to realise the so called gamble at Kempton will lose them their two bananas, as the bookies get their money back ? these people who land the money are self serving extortionist, and are no hero of mine. The more publicity they get, the more likely we will see repeats from various people. The bookies always get their money back from your 20 quid punter. I liked listening to Curley on youtube, but he is a hypocrite, and inevitably a take out merchant. Do i blame him ?…no i don’t. I’d do the same thing myself if i could. And yes that would make me a self serving extortionist and a take out merchant, but i could live with those labels if i had that sort of money from dishonest punting.

There are some special horses whoms demise a racing fan ought to not want to profit from. Or a gambler for that matter.

The picture of you Nath got my vote. The blue oyster one and one you put up of ginger were funny, but you’ve stated the problems you’ve had, so you’ve got my vote because your picture has meaning. It’s a symbol of how you’ve successfuly beat the tribulations you’ve openly spoke of. You’re a few **** poems away from winning next years poster of the year. No offence gamble.
