    ‘morning

    nedloh

    ,

    Thanks for the interest

    Frank

but we always buy the 2 anyway, I have The Mail and Mrs Billion has The Sun from which I nick the racing pages.

That said I will have a look because one never knows what inspiration can be found.

    Today’s selections: –

    1.30 Newmarket CORSICA 5/2

    * 2.00 Newmarket ELZAAM 4/6

    3.45 Newmarket ROAYH 1/1

    * 4.30 Folkestone MOUNT ATHOS 4/9

    7.25 Epsom EPSOM SALTS 15/8

    * I can feel a short priced double coming on, perhaps even a Trixie

    Hi Billion

I am confused.com as I Corsica was not top rated by L Taylor and neither is Mount Athos. Forgive my intrusion but am I missing something (more than likely).

    Regards

Would you consider class and weight?

    Up in Class?
    Same Class?
    Drop in class?

The above applied to weight? Up, same down?

Also something I have read by VDW concerning dead weight from which I presume means the weight a horse is set to carry is closer to a jockeys natural riding weight. Are these lists readily available and if so are they kept up to date, how often does a jockey have to declare his/her natural weight.

Right handed Left handed, undulating, flat etc as far as course configurations are concerned.

As it is the NH season how many hurdles or fences does each horse need to clear on each track, is this info readily available.

I would love to be in the position to say as VDW did that I have the answer to them all, but unfortunately I do not.

Sometimes though the simple ideas are usually the best so is it right to over complicate matters? I don’t know.

My wife says I am simple but this complicates matters for her.

    Dear All

Absolutely made up for the man. Met him during the summer and he is one hell of a nice person and I for one can not wait to see him back in the saddle.

Top Jockey, Top Man. What a great start to the weekend.

Cheers Kieron you are much appreciated.

I don’t wish to be picky but if you admire him you really should spell his name correctly

    Evening Folks

VDW’S first example was the Champion Hurdle at Leopardstown.

    Decent Fellow 7
    Beacon Light 3*
    Monksfield 16
    Prominent King 5*
    Mr Kildare 3*

"Using two methods of rating all five horses, I found that the three starred horses came out best".

How well did these horses perform in the market over their last three races as opposed to their forecast odds in the papers of the day or in the SP of the day over three previous outings ( i.e. did they out perform the forecast to SP or the other way round)

Weight and the market will lead to the probables but if you do not or are unable to make a reasonable book then the race should be left alone.

VDW used two methods in the above example one was consistency and the other was?

But one still has to consider the form of all in the race.

Another point is "excess weight in the saddle is more of a brake than a heavier jockey".

    Balance?

How many jockeys ride to their true weight without lead?

These are just thoughts and not conclusions.

    Sleep Tight.

    An Interesting thread.

It is however quite sad that those who have no interest in the subject continue to post and take the mick out of those who are interested.

Now maybe I am right or maybe I am wrong but I would have assumed that a long standing forum such as this will have grown ups partaking.

I subscribe to Sky but around 55% of the programmes I do not watch as I don’t like them or in the case of the medium shows I do not believe in them, but each to their own. If you don’t like it don’t turn it on, quite simple really.

Grow up gents and smell the coffee and let those who want to debate in proper fashion do so, then let the others out into the play ground and that stands for all forum discussion.

    Cheers

    Hi Lamby150

let me know what you think of the spreadsheets that I have just sent you.

    Dear Carlisle

Many thanks for the sheets I quite like your rank formula. However I think I may have gotten confused as I was kind of looking for somehow/method/way to extract the RP card data into one sheet and then transferring the required data into a second sheet for analysis.

I think Hensman may have an idea about how to do that?

    Cheers

    Hi Carlisle

Do you have an automatic sheet that refreshes or do you extact a page at a time.

I would be interested in any help you maybe able to forward. Unfortunately I am not very good with the coding and since the recent revamp of the RP site it has completely thrown me off the scent.

    Dear Kingston

Many thanks for your input. I have located and purchased said item and look forward to delivery.

Not in the sense you maybe thinking or implying.

The family I admire and are decent folk. Before anyone goes on about lighters, I might add that I know of no one who is or near to perfect except the chap (who was as close as you can get) who was nailed to a cross.

She is a ruddy good jockey and has time for people and also a hoot.
