    Sprinter Sacre anyone?

    I doubt

    sprinter Sacre

will even set foot on a racecourse again never mind win a Gold cup!

    Wash your filthy mouth out!

Take the 3s on a usually 1/4 shot to win the Champion chase, because that’s what hes going to be after the tingle creek.

I’ve only had a nibble at 25s on burton port. I like to go into the national with a 2 prong attack (attack being the wrong word as although I enjoy the national I don’t bet big on this race). Now to find my other candidate. What do people think of Balthazar king and Big Shu chances? I like them for the fact we know they will stay and jump all day..

Meanwhile, over in Ireland, The Fly rests calmly in his box, having had the perfect preparation again, three runs, three wins, evenly spaced out to bring him to fever pitch for the big day.

Bring it on, just one week today for the Fly to be crowned Champ for the third time :D

    THIS!!

Tent still on track for festival despite wound

"My Tent Or Yours has a little puncture wound in his near-fore sole," Henderson said. "We are looking at it as we speak and are pretty confident it won’t affect his participation.

"We are designing a shoe to cover it but also have the facility to swim him if necessary. Any other day, with any other horse, this would not be significant."

Henderson added: "Nobody can guarantee anything but I am seriously hopeful everything will be all right."

At the current odds dont you think they is no value in CF?.They should be sum serious pace in the race with CF and Rock on ruby!

Im on from 6s so I am happy with that price. However I would still b happy to take 3s. I think he will win the race and I would be happy getting back treble my stake for backing that belief.

I’ve had a saver on Trifolium. I don’t think ROR will win. Patrick Mullins – hurricane fly as broken that horse lol :)

Always book the full week off – this is like xmas week to me!
I live in Ireland and usually go over with and to friends in Liverpool on the Monday night. We go to the racing Tuesday and spend our day in Oneills on the wed watching the racing before getting the last flight home.
    This year is slightly different.

    Monday
Christmas/Cheltenham eve. Try to relax all day but find myself reading every article, website, forum to see if I missed anything or theres any last minute news. Bed earlyish – alarm set for early flight to Bristol

    Tuesday
Fly into Bristol, train to Cheltenham for the first days races. Love being there for the roar. This is my 4th consecutive Tuesday. Late flight home.

    Wednesday
meet up with friends and watch in someones bigscreen

    Thursday
meet up with friends and watch in someones bigscreen

    Friday
Hit the pub early – pints and gold cup day!

Why should sizing europe turn form around with benefficent?.Bailey green can only place at best. When i back each way i like to think the horse has a decent chance off winning as well..Think that is the case with benefficent.the problem is martin might run him in the ryanair i hope not.I agree sire is way too short!

on benefficient – i’ll be surprised if he doesn’t go Ryanair. won Jewson last year (I know hes won over 2m)

6/1 to me is the borderline price for e/w and considering I wont be having a large bet on this race 6/1 for me is not really an attractive e/w price

if sizing europe retains his 2m ability from last year he could run into a place atleast at 16s! finished comfortably 2nd last year and 2nd again to sprinter at punchestown.

Bailey green last years arkle runner up at 14s would also be of interest.

Sire de grugy for me is much too short of a price for a horse that has been beaten twice at Cheltenham.

"At least he is sound and his heart is good, therefore there must be every chance he will be back next season 100 per cent, and let’s hope the old Sprinter is back in the Tingle Creek in December, that’s what matters to us.

Look out everybody because believe me we will get him there."

    I got my

    Binoculars

out and had a daft fiver on at 80’s he still turns up!

mate brought this up with me earlier trying to console me.

Personally believe sprinter is diff – Henderson would never be forgiven if he ran sprinter and something happened after todays run. Had he planned to run him he could have said he wasn’t working well but as he is sound they are going to let him take his chance. This sounded like a definite no go (I know binocular did too but that was after a race – not schooling).

My favourite horse of all time. The festival while I still cant wait has lost a bit of sparkle. I will not be able to enjoy the champion chase with the champ not being there. I hope he returns to his best next year.

Sprinter Sacre will not defend his Queen Mother Champion Chase crown at Cheltenham next month.

The two-mile king was sensationally pulled up at Kempton on December 27 and was quickly diagnosed as suffering from an irregular heartbeat. That problem righted itself, and he has been closely monitored since by equine specialist Celia Marr, steadily pleasing his team, and with a racecourse gallop in the offing.

However, the eight-year-old did not show his usual brilliance in a piece of work at trainer Nicky Henderson’s Seven Barrows base on Saturday, prompting the decision to miss the Festival meeting as well as the rest of the season.

Henderson told Press Association Sport: "He worked as normal, but I just needed to see the old Sprinter back. Everything had been going very well, his work was building up. It had been OK, but I was looking for that something he shows. He is extraordinary and always used to give us that at home.

"I talked extensively with Caroline and Raymond Mould, who have been very understanding.

"I said the other week it was 50-50 (getting to Cheltenham), but quietly I thought it was above that, I honestly thought we were going the right way. It’s just not all there and I can’t ask a horse of his standing, I can’t sacrifice him. I think it is fairer to everybody – the horse told us what he wanted to tell us yesterday."

Henderson went on: "He worked with Triolo D’Alene, Nico (De Boinville) rode him as he has every day for the last three years, and he had his heart monitor on.

"Triolo is a good work horse and anything that works with him has to be good, he is the one horse I use as a lead horse for Sprinter Sacre as he needs a good gallop on the way to the Grand National and wherever he goes before that.

"The old Sprinter Sacre would have found it very easy – if a normal horse works well with Triolo you’d say ‘get on that next time’ but Sprinter in fairness is unique, it’s as simple as that. Simonsig used to be his workmate last year but we lost him (to injury). He will be back and I’m confident Sprinter Sacre will be back, too.

"But I can’t ask him to go to a racecourse next weekend. We all watch him day in day out, his blood is good and his scopes, and Celia says his heart is good. It’s not his heart. He’s just missing something, something like 10 per cent, but that is crucial when you are in the zone we are in.

"I don’t feel I want to gallop him on a racecourse next week. He needs a racecourse gallop (to get to Cheltenham) and I can’t ask him to do it. He is 100 per cent sound, he’s above 90 per cent but you need to be 100 per cent, that’s where you need to be. He needed to go to a racecourse.

"We talked for a long time last night and again today. We’ve come up with our decision and that is that, the Moulds have been very understanding. It just shows all the ups and downs. Last year was phenomenal, particularly with Sprinter. He took us to places no horse has done for years. I can’t thank Celia and everybody at home enough.

"At least he is sound and his heart is good, therefore there must be every chance he will be back next season 100 per cent, and let’s hope the old Sprinter is back in the Tingle Creek in December, that’s what matters to us.

Look out everybody because believe me we will get him there."

Paddy Power make the Gary Moore-trained Sire De Grugy, twice a Grade One winner this season, the 5-4 favourite for the BetVictor-sponsored Queen Mother on March 12.

I hope the highlighted part is true

Sprinter Sacre has been ruled out of the Cheltenham Festival, Nicky Henderson has told the Raicng Post. The Champion Chase favourite worked on Saturday with Triolo d’Alene but "is not showing the same brilliance as he did last season".

    :( terrible news

Is Un De Sceaux going to run? I thought the Red Mills was his next intended port of call. 15/8 about Melodic Rendezvous would look huge if UDS doesn’t run.

    heres the article – http://www.racingpost.com/news/live.sd

    Un De Sceaux odds-on
    for Champion prep

    By James Burn 11:09AM 29 JAN 2014

UN DE SCEAUX, as short as 10-1 to win the Stan James Champion Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival, is odds-on to stretch his unbeaten run to seven at Sandown on Saturday.

Trained by Willie Mullins and well regarded by jockey Ruby Walsh, Un De Sceaux has won his two starts this term by 53 and 29 lengths.

He is an intriguing contender for the Champion Hurdle and is in line to run in Sandown’s Betfred Double Delight Contenders Hurdle, which Paddy Power have made him favourite for.

They go 4-7 with Melodic Rendezvous, a recent winner at Grade 2 level in Haydock’s Champion Hurdle Trial, next at 15-8.

"Up until now Un De Sceaux has been able to bowl along and his rivals haven’t been good enough to trouble him," said Paddy Power.

"This is his acid test as it might just be a different story with Melodic Rendezvous in opposition."

The Listed race was won by Binocular in 2010 before he went on to triumph in that year’s Champion Hurdle. It is not due to be broadcast on Channel 4, but that could change if Mullins declares the relentless galloper.

Un De Sceaux, however, might not be able to run at Sandown if rain continues to fall. The track has put in place plans for an all-chase card, although clerk of the course Andrew Cooper has said that is "purely a contingency".

    Contenders Hurdle
Paddy Power: 4-7 Un De Sceaux, 15-8 Melodic Rendezvous, 9 Whisper, 10 Act Of Kalanisi, 16 First Avenue, 33 Fergall, 50 Sonoran Sands, 100 House Party, 200 Clonusker
