I saw the race & I thought the worst. I am truly saddened that he lost his life today. I was on holiday in the Cotswolds over Christmas & whilst out walking I had the fortune to actually see Peso at the end of one of his training gallops. So to see he was running today I placed a small wager & now I wished I hadn’t. I do, however, agree with a previous poster & wonder why Jonjo didn’t pull him up. He had made an earlier mistake & I thought he didn’t run well afterwards, so very sad. RIP Peso you lovely boy 🥀😥.
It has truly been a dreadful day at Kempton today & racing welfare will no doubt have a field daySo sad to know he didn’t make it, I thought he was just winded RIP lovely boy 😥🥀
So sad to know that Third Time Lucki couldn’t be saved & I do agree with previous comment, that the water jump is a pointless obstacle. I’m wondering how many trainers have a water jump on their gallops RIP 😥🥀
A sickening accident RIP Balhambar 🌹
I have refrained from commenting recently but the loss of these 2 horses has deeply saddened me. I have watched the replay of the race & can confidently say that both animals were struggling in the race & Bestoleads looked very uncomfortable towards the end. Both horses were clearly not meant to be racehorses & I can only apologise on their behalf that that was not acknowledged by their owners

Absolutely gutted & angry that Trushan lost his life today. When I saw his name on the racecard I thought no, please dont run him, he deserves to be retired RIP brave warrior you deserved so much better RIP Trushan 😥
Ex Ruby Light I’m shocked & saddened to read your write up on the loss of Persian Time. Even more so, after the Grand National, & the loss of another horse being asked to carry on when it had run it’s race RIP Persian Time 😥🌹
Thanks to those of you who responded earlier to my comment about me not being able to see my comment I posted this morning concerning poor Celebre D’Allen. I understand some of you have seen it but I can’t. I don’t think that I voiced an opinion much different to others. I have watched the National since 1960. So I have seen the best & the worst in all those years. I always watch the race hoping & praying that all horses return home safe, but also accepting that accidents happen. My fears were realised with this sad incident giving feed to the Anti brigade, not helped by headlines in some of todays tabloid newspapers
Why, may I ask, has my comment, which I posted this morning not appeared 🤔
I am deeply saddened to know that Celebre D’Allen didn’t make it. I have watched thousands of races over many years when I have shouted at the tv “pull it up”. When I can see a tired horse with no more to give is urged to continue & obviously has no chance of finishing placed. I love horse racing/horses but this really has hit a nerve. The jockey is NOT inexperienced & has ridden a lot of winners for the Hobbs/Johnson team. On reflection, whilst I am, like many of us, saddened by his actions, I don’t want it to end his career. I know it is a hard life for most jockeys. I just hope he & others learn from this that horses are NOT machines & that there welfare is the most important thing. We certainly don’t need fuel adding to the fire for the Anti brigade RIP Celebre D’Allen, you deserved better 🥀
The news that Tommy Tucker has lost his life has truly sickened me. 150/1 no hoper who obviously WASN’T good enough to be a race horse & now no more. I’m sorry Tommy Tucker that people didn’t make the right decisions for you RIP 😥🌹
As a follower of horse racing for more years than I care to remember & my love of the horse is real. I don’t recall the name of Dundory but having looked at his record his passing is beyond sad. 9yrs old poor form, last in its last 3 races, why oh why did they persist in racing this horse RIP DUNDORY 🌹😥
A horrid fall, not sure if he was brought down but you could see that it was fatal RIP Forward Plan 😥🥀
I totally agree with Prong, if ever there was a horse that shouldn’t have been on a racecourse this was one, poor thing RIP Pontresina
Sadly I agree with you Enniskeane Flame.
I appreciate your thoughts Marlingford but I have watched racing for over 50yrs so I consider that I am pretty experienced at deciding when I think a jockey has made a poor choice & one that doesn’t benefit the horse, which in this case it didn’t. It had made an horrendous mistake I think at the 2nd last, after previous mistakes which must have taken their toll. Looking back on it’s racing history it was no world beater & in my honest opinion it was the fall of a tired horse which cost it’s life. As for the rest of the field I probably could comment that some of those should have been pulled up. In this instance it was the sad loss of this horse that was uppermost in my mind.
I’m sorry if you disagree with me, but I am entitled to my opinion as you are yours
If only Ryan Mania had pulled him up after some bad mistakes & dropping back, poor lad RIP 😥💔
I can never understand why jockeys persist when all chance has gone #livetofightanotherday
