I’m in the position to say I saw no ‘smart’ money for this horse today
Adlerflug has entries and won the German Derby last year before finishing 2nd to Quijano and in front of Youmzain.
Schiaperelli has superb form around Europe and has joined Godolphin
I’m hoping he likes his new surroundings
I trust everyone availed themselves of the 8/11 on my pre season tip
MALT OR MASH
To be followed methinks…
Back in the days when I knew precisely zilch about racing I became irrationally convinced that Papillon was gonna win the National.
I tried to convince everyone it was a good-un and a few mates backed it, amongst other bets
Sadly, I had not a penny to my name and no way of borrowing money for something as frivolous as a bet…
Cue horse winning…
May well be repeating so apologies if so…
My hunch is that last week’s ratings are too high.
Kauto’s got a solid book of 175+ ratings whereas Denman has to repeat his Gold Cup against similar yardsticks to truly merit his lofty rating.
The poster who suggests VPU as a 163 horse has it spot on for me. If anything Master Minded deserves 180++! 186 seems too high for a standalone race.
Surely the world is gonna be waiting for MALT OR MASH…
Nevison is the wrong guy for a Cheltenham preview
He is a expert on betting not form and as such, Cheltenham is not where he concentrates.
His form knowledge last night was pretty dodgy and the whole preview lacked substance and variation. They seemed to think that the front three in any market were the only ones worthy of analysis.
Nevison in particular showed that he’d paid very little attention to the festival until then After all, he’s a day-to-day bettor.
It should be noted that yesterday’s race was both highly competitive and highly recognizable. A casual Saturday punter will have been easily drawn to a race with so many festival veterans and old favourites and encouraged to bet.
Such races should therefore be promoted. Horses become handicapped to the hilt then get beaten by younger progressive rivals; it’s a positive move to find an outlet for them.I’m sceptical about this horse’s true ability.
Touted heavily as a festival winner, he beat very little that day and has been beaten each time since. For him to be 2nd/3rd favourite for the World Hurdle is ludicrous based on achievement and is favourite tomorrow purely on hype alone. Add in no McCoy and you’ve got a dodgy proposition.
