I have a sneaking suspicion for BOSTONS ANGEL here, having seen how well Oscars Well ran behind Hurricane Fly at Leopardstown, when the conditions most definatley didn’t suit gives me some confidence that Jessica has her top horses oeaking just at the right time and a good run here could lead to better things at Cheltenham, 10-1 is a huge price I think
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion obviously, but if any horse wins a championship race 3 years running at the festival, not to mention go 15 races unbeaten, surely he must rank as one of the greatest? Why do people crave to see him at a different distance? It wouldn’t suit him. Usain Bolt won’t go and run over 800m does that mean he still isnt the best 100m runner around? Frankel isn’t going to run in an Arc but does that mean he isn’t one of the greatest horses around? I think not.
Grands Crus is currently 3rd favourite for the Gold Cup, the most prestigious race in National Hunt racing. Big Bucks beat him on the bridle at Aintree and ran away from him at Cheltenham after Ruby had foolishly dropped his whip.
As I said before everyone is entitled to their own opinion but for what its worth I beleive Big Bucks to be one of the best race horses in training over both codes, the gritty determination he shows, the consumate ease with which he wins his races, how he draws the crowd’s imagination, he can only be good for racing in general.
Always thought this horse could cause a stir at top level, It will be interesting to see how he fares at Navan, some decent opposition IMO, Laganbank and Il Fenomeno both have a bit about them. 33-1 seems a pretty good price none the less and hopefully he bolts up and them odds will quickly disappear. As usual though this race has so many potential winners , Waheeb and Steps to freedom look the cream of the crop so far to me but it is a race favourites dont usually go well in- Dunguib and Cue Card the most recent to fall victim of favourite tags.
Simple reason for this, Townend is going for the champion jockey and Ruby is out of the running, Both Walsh and Mullins thought it was right for Townend to continue to push for the championship, no doubts come Punchestown Ruby will be getting the better rides such as Hurricane Fly.
