I think from a value point you can’t , let’s face it red rum was a bigger price and he was running in less competitive races , I love tiger but going by my betting rules I can’t back him, I think the likes of rathvindon is a much better value bet , another question is with the number of runners he has entered …does Elliot have a well handicapped horse sneaking quietly out the stable door while everyone else looks at tiger

With the amount of runners elliot has he could send tiger off in front and use the rest as a gradualing slowing defensive wall …lol :yahoo:

I’m def a topofthegame fan , I think santini is a slow boat , he ran ok at Cheltenham but between him and topofthegame I’d much rather follow top….I think he’s Nichols next GC winner

While I admire your love for elegant escape potato I do think you look at his form with very rose tinted glasses , hey,s much more likely to win a national than a gold cup , I’m a huge native river fan and even though his race didn’t go to plan he still comfortably beat elegant , and native has def lost some of the pace that win him 2 denman chases

Elegant escape won a weak welsh national ( exposed handicappers in the places behind) and wasn’t fast enough to get involved in the hennesy , again won by a exposed handicapper , his run in the RSA last year looks nothing special , none of the horses in that race have done anything special , presenting Percy and monalee both being disappointments , I’m afraid I have him down as a very good handicapper …

The staff in my local shop are often trying to get me to have a free go on them , never been interested , akin to betting on virtual racing if you ask me

Lol which vice to choose , women or horses , both can kick you and empty your wallet , find it strange that prob the top trainer about, Gordon Elliot learned his trade in pipes yard yet his son didn’t

I’d agree he has t got the quality but then he doesn’t have the owners bar and he odd hemmings horse , took a kick when the Rooney’s took there horses out , there’s something , Rooney’s went back on there decision not to run horses at Cheltenham …did they run any at the festival ….I wouldn’t shout any of them home …def not a fan of there’s

I’ll be honest potato I always tended to steer clear of a Richard hills horse …never rated him but glad he did you a turn , I was defeated the day many clouds died , I’ll take a front running warrior over a bridle horse anyday of the week , I backed many clouds at Carlisle before his Hennessey win , had a good bet on him in the hennesy then for some reason I’ll never know deserted him in the national …didn’t stop me screaming him home though , if many clouds had been a person he,d have been the type of guy to get your back in a fight ..even if you both knew you were going to get a kicking ..rare trait in a horse or person now a days

King tends to plot this race as he,s a Scot , I’ve fancied dingo dollar for this every since the hennesy , I’m hoping sandymount is at aintree and not here , had 2 great days with this race , grey abbey in the rain and 40-1 Al CO , shouting him home while the people around me stood in silence …. The one other thing I always remember over the 2 days is look for the Anderson green winner ….this is his Cheltenham ..love a winner at this meeting

I’ll be honest I’m a big McCain fan , he,s had difficult times esp the recent flu outbreak yet he still gets plenty winners , I very nearly put king on my list , I don’t think he kicked on when he had that good spell in 2000,s , he seems to spend as much time on the all weather rather than jumps now yet I reckon he could go close in the Scottish national , Martin’s a good shout , bookies use to be terrified of him getting one in at the bottom of a handicap

I can’t wait to see him step up in distance , personally I think Cheltenham doesn’t play to his strengths and it’s purely because he,s so superior to everything else he wins there , he,s going to get slower as he gets older too so if he does stay further it opens up other avenues …..king George , saying that I’d love to see him take on cyrname
