I am so pleased that Ap has done it at last. I think I was riding the final couple of fences with him I was so excited. He has to win Sports Personality of the Year now surely. Also so glad to hear all runners and riders have come back safely. :D

I agree. I wouldn’t like to see him in the national at the age of 11 for the first time most likely lumping round top weight. I absolutely love the horse and feel he owes nobody anything and think it may be too much a big ask.

I think the best sight at Cheltenham for me today was him getting up looking ok. I hope that he has a nice holiday now along with Denman and they both come back well for next season. I certainly don’t think that Kauto Star is past it now. He looked to be going well until the first mistake which was quite similar to what happened to Denman last time out.

So sorry to hear that. I thought it didn’t look good at the time.

Oh thanks for that. I wonder what they have fallen out over. It must be hard for all the staff concerned working in the two yards if there is so much bad feeling.

I agree with Ten Plus on this and of course all horses are different. Some just wouldn’t cope at all with the rehabilitation and also often I imagine euthanasia is the first choice as it puts an end to the pain and suffering immediately. If I remeber correctly didn’t Horatio Nelson break a leg in the Derby and I think that John Magnier had wanted everything done to save him but unfortunately it was just too complicated and he had to be put down the same day.

:( Yes I agree, I think it must be one of the most distressing things for all concerned.

Oh no, what a terrible shame. Condolenses to all connections. It is the last thing the sport needs after the losses at Fairyhouse on Monday.

So sad to hear the awful news about poor Exotic Dancer. He was a great racehorse and always there in the big races and I am going to miss him next season. Condolenses to all connections. What an awful first day it has been what with this as well as poor Denmans fall as well as the loss of Mel in Blue in the Foxhunters. Lets hope that things get better for the rest of the meeting.

Any news on who is going to ride Denman in the race? He seemed to be looking more like his old self at Cheltenham under Sam Thomas and he is the jockey that Denman is used to most. I don’t mean anything against Ruby Walsh by saying that as he is a fantastic jockey, it is just that Sam has mostly ridden him in the past and perhaps Denman prefers his style of riding.

I too really enjoy these veterans races and they are a chance to see some old favourites so I wouldn’t mind seeing a veterans race at Cheltenham.

I too was so pleased to see him back and running such a good race yesterday. The really good news is that according to David Pipes site he seems fine this morning and has been led out for a pick of grass.

Oh no what an awful shame, she has produced many good offspring including Galileo. Rest well.

Hi, Yes I am a member and have been for about 9 years now and absolutely love it. It is good because they have about 20 horses in training which you get regular updates on in the weekly newsletter and also they run a breeding programme and have several broodmares so you also get updates on them and their youngsters. Soviet Song is now at stud and has just produced her first foal, a colt by Oasis Dream and has now been covered by Ravens Pass.
The club also offers trips to see yards, racecourse hospitalities and also visits to the studs to see the broodmares, foals and yearlings about to enter training. I like the fact that they breed to race so you get to follow the progress of foals from in-utero through to the racecourse. They also make sure that racehorses they own have a good retirement too. A case in point is Penzance who has just gone to a good new home.
I suppose on the negative side it does have a lot of members but I have never had problems getting on visits etc. Also if they have a runner you can phone a hotline to get a paddock place although these are obviously limited but they give priority to members who havn’t already had one that year. The prize money earned by the horses is divided at the end of each year but obviously with so many members tends to be quite low which automatically comes off your membership renewal or can be paid to you if you don’t renew. It wasn’t the prize money that inspired me to join though but more the involvement with the horses. My membership comes up for renewal next month and I will be doing so again as I love the club. Sorry about the long post but I was trying to think of as many things about it for you as I could.

:( So sorry to hear that. He was gorgeous looking, I have always liked flashy looking chestnuts although they are not to everyones taste. Condolenses to all connections.

I’m glad that he has been retired and hope he has the long happy retirement that he deserves.
Is there any more news on Bewleys Berry also owned by the same connections and how he is progressing since breaking down last year?
