Hi all…..
not Blues brother…..but I rated HQ at 142 and the first 4 were Group 2 at least
HQ had won a few races and in particular on soft ground
Camelot just under Group 1st 122….these are my ratings which differ from may others….
I had Starscope as the winner on my ratings…..unlucky
will be interesting to see HQ in soft ground next time
Feel free to comment

I am using a base rating of 125 rather than 100…..
This way I can relate the figure to the OR rating expected
e.g I think a Group 2 horse should be about 120
yet to prove it this year but will not plan to have a bet until end of April…..just watching and evaluating for now
good luck if you are having a bet this week
I will post my ratings for Newmarket on the weekend

good luck to all Raters

Thanks for the explanation makes perfect sense…
How do you allow for class in your speed calculations ?
I see you allow for the different courses but not for different classes
in his book Mordin has a class rating based on sec/mile slower than standard
Thanks

Hi all
I have recently returned to this forum and I am keen on using speed ratings but I am struggling to understand the lbs/length process
Could someone please show me a working example so that it sticks in my head as this is the piece of my jigsaw I just cannot fathom
By the way, Blues Brother….fantastic work and I cannot explain how much work you have saved many of us
Hope to hear from you soon

Hi all, just made my first post on Silver Cup Link.
I tend to concentrate on sprint races and do this just for fun.
Read all the posts and I like the ‘friendly’ banter.
My view on the biggie:
Poets Place…prefers more cut…only beat Bajan Tryst Bajan Tryst 1/2 length in Portland….draw a concern.
Redford….interested in how Something runs in the Silver Cup…jury out but may not have enough speed
Noverre to go………..Good claimer means running off pound below last winning mark= e/w chance…good draw but may be caught late on
Signor Peltro……….been waiting for a very fast 6f/7f race for this horse……..finish fast but maybe 1/2 pounds too high to win
Victoire de Lyphard….improved 6lbs for every race but biggest task to date……….
I know I have stated most of obvious contenders as this is a tight race….. so I will go each way with Noverre to Go……….I will not bet on this race as I have ‘Something’ else to put my cash on
Speak again and good luck to everyone….

Hi all,
First post and Dandy will do for me…..
Joseph Henry…front runner but may get caught but should make frame so each way at nice odds
However, at a bigger price I will be on Something….
Won at Epsom right on the line…..looked at last two races ….good runs up to 6.5f then stamina run out….typical Dandy Nicholls ploy…longer distance and dropping handicap.
Won off 92…….racing off 88 with Billy Cray taking off five pounds….even if he is only worth three pounds still off only 90………..one little concern…..drawn 11……….hopefully chooses to go high and expect him to be finishing when front runners have had enough…
Good luck whatever you back
