4.05 Chepstow – Pastfact @ 11/2 (365)
PASTFACT comes into this on the back of a poor effort at Bath lto but in all fairness was slowly away that day and i’m hoping that he can do much better here today , has placed on both runs over todays CD and has won 3 times and placed 4 from his 14 runs at the course in total so seems to know his way round here. Trainer Malcom Saunders sends just this one out and has a 21.4% strike rate at the course this season (and a profit of +£9.00 to a £ stake) and he has got the services of the inform Finley Marsh who rides the horse for the first time who rides the horse for the first time , in the last month his strike rate is 21.1% and a profit to a £ stake of £12.00 whilst his SR at Chepstow this season is 50% (+£19.00 to a £ stake) , looks to me to be fairly well drawn and if he can get start the race along with the rest unlike last time i think he can make his presence felt.Sunday 21st August
2.45 Brighton – Holbache 5/1
I like the look of bottom weight HOLBACHE in this , ran well enough last time out when 4th here , making it a win and a place from 3 runs at the course , a win and a place from 2 runs over todays CD . Tony Carroll has a 15% SR here at Brighton , as does the jockey , and despite not having an over abundance of winners at the moment it catches my eye that when he and jockey Mollie Phillips team up their strike rate over the past three weeks is a decent 21% , she’a been riding well of late showing a 23% strike rate over the past 3 weeks. The horse comes into this 4lb below his last winning mark and as i’ve said has run well both times he’s run over CD and jockey has two wins / two places from her ten rides aboard the horse , i just think everything considered that he could go close here today.Tuesday 22nd August
4.15 Kempton – Intransigent 7/1 (Coral) / Finelcity 8/1 (Coral)
An open looking handicap where a hatful of the participants could win imo , but i am going to side with two against the field at decent-ish prices. First is joint top weight Intransigent , probably not the most obvious choice at first glance but Andrew Baldings’ charge has a seriously good record here at Kempton , a CD winner his record reads – 2,1,1,3,3,2,2,10,1,2 which entitles him to respect round here in my book. Looks to be on a decent mark considering some of his past form and if the re application of the hood helps his cause then i think he should definatley make his presence felt here today. The other one i like is Finelcity , comes into this on the back of a 10 month layoff which is probably the only thing that worries me about his chances , always seems to run a decent race , but round Kempton his record is exemplary – 2,1,1,1 (CD). Jim Crowley in the plate which boosts my confidence as the pair have teamed up three times before resulting in 2 wins and a second , all over todays CD. If fit , well and fully wound up after his break then i can see him being in the firing line come the finishSunday 20th August

I think its interesting that Irish trainer W McCreery brings this one over for the listed race at Pontefract today , has three runners out in total , other two at the Curragh but only brings this one to these shores. Trainer been in decent form of late having been amongst the winners and placers , and since the 17th August he’s sent out 4 runners resulting in a winner and 3 seconds. Trainer knows the time of the day and doesn’t often bring his horses over here (has a 14% strike rate when he does) , so probably worth taking note of the fact that he’s brought this one over for a listed race. Danny Tudhope is booked for the ride and despite the fact the horse would have to improve i think its entirely possible that he could outrun his current odds and make the placings at the very least.
