Cracking tipping. I happened to see your, post go up just after 3pm and thought that was a bit optimistic.
I’ll shut up and just take notes nowI was a bit puzzled at first but then I realised what has happened. In the selection process, you should only look at horses than won last time out, then check to see if it is a C, D or CD winner.
My apologies, as this must have caused a lot of confusion. To list the selection process again…
Thanks, I follow you now
York 1:45 Maven
York 2:15 Fast Shot*Personally, if there is more than 1 selection in a race then I usually take the one carrying the highest weight if the going is Good or firmer and the lowest weight if Good to Soft or softer.
I’m guessing Maven should have also had an asterisk, as Ansaab also qualifies as it ran 18 days ago at Donny and won over 10f at Curragh 22-Apr-12, but is 8st8 as opposed to Maven’s 8st3 ?
Also, why Fast Shot and not Yeeoow, which ran ten days ago, carries less weight and won at 6f at Ascot 10-May-13 ?
(sorry, I’m not being obtuse, I’m genuinely interested in systems and I’m just trying to understand your selection)
If you were to include Ireland, you’ve got four in the 7:55 at Killarney: Jackemil, Apache Gold, Trans City and Truly Delightful.
Cheers VtC for the reply.
It’s actually Bet365 I use for that very reason with the last bit about singles/doubles/trebles, as it was excellent for calculating the number of multiples – still works out quite expensive thoughThanks GeorgeJ but as it works I’ll stick with it as it is, until I can work it out for myself – bit of a challenge when I get a bit more free time.
I’ve figured how to get each full result from the main result, but not in a format I can utilise yet. Thanks for the reply GeorgeJ.
I think you grab the data in a similar manner to me. I click on the full result, copy the entire dataset into a text editor and save it as a text file. Repeat for each result. Then I have an Excel macro to process each text file and save the data I require, which I think is about what you also keep.
In a perfect world I would just grab the link the the full result and not have to do the cut-paste and save.
But I haven’t figured out how to do that.
GeorgeJ, you’ve piqued my interest here. When you say
"With a little bit of coding, when I download results the two are automatically combined, which is what I need for my purposes."
, how do you do this?
The only way I’ve managed to do it is grabbing the text version of the full result and doing QUITE A BIT OF CODING to break it down to its constituent bits and pieces. I wondered if I’m missing a trick somewhere.
1.40 Misere
2.10 Za’Lan – picked over the so-called first string
2.45 Ingleby Arch
3.15 Follow The Flag
3.50 Lyric Poet – interesting Southwell first-timer and up in trip
4.20 J J Leary
4.55 MustajedBit late I know, but I can tell you that since the middle of February 2011, the following applies:-
5f L10 M10 H15
6f L24 M26 H25
7f L24 M32 H39
8f L16 M14 H34This is for races with at least six runners.
A low draw is the bottom third, a high draw the top third, leaving the middle third for the middle. Thanks sberry, that looks like the sort of thing I’m looking for.
Just a quick revisit to this original post of mine.
I’m still interested to know of any decent international horse racing websites, ones that give timeform-like information about races.
I’ve found the Sporting Post one for South Africa (http://www.sportingpost.co.za), which seems okay, not quite the RP, but not bad.
I’ve not forgotten about this but have been having problems logging into the forum. Sometimes it’s just hanging.
Anyone else finding it terminally slow ?Anyway, total stands at -£20.16 as of yesterday, but as I can’t reliably publish anything it hardly seems worthwhile.
Yesterday’s rubbish
