It is not just the RPR look at top speed they have changed there ratings from the weekender to site and are even different at the site from race card to top speed figs.

I used to run a very successful faster than class method from the post but now i can not trust the figures.

    Artemis,

thanks for the tips but the reason i am trying to cut down on the selections is

when i started doing this there were only about 3 to 4 solid selections a week

but now their has been more than that daily.

another thing i have found i did not increase the OR but now i am finding that

a lot more doing better figs so i have to be more selective

on to todays 5-05 southwell Ocean Ledgen

the 3-20 southwell Kinout just failed

I will give it a week and see how it goes.

    Hi Artemis,

I run a system very similar to this one, ie using RPR and Topspeed

I was thinking of putting up some selections would it be ok to put them on this post or would i have to start one of my own.

All it is picking horses that are faster and better than Class with a few filters.

Hi LFAW, I only use it a little but the system is sound it depends on how you rate the classes. My health stops me getting too involved, it is part of a method I used to use.

Hi, when construting a system instead of form figs would it be better to use lenths beaten? I use a little system of compairing the class, value & race class of last 2 runs against todays and taking into acount the distance behind the winner and differance in weight.

                            Barry

sorry about the spelling & english

Hi Kersly, The results you do not include in your system (8 from 8) would be some other people dreams, it is ideal that you are keeping tabs on them for they may prove profitably . Where in Leeds do you come from, I lived in Crossgates for 28yrs and still have family in the area.
Barry

Hi Peter, you are right, as I have said someware on the site I only use the first part. VDW always put great stock in Class and the first 3 con. this is my way, use the class of the last 3 races against the class of todays to find if any of the horses could win the race. I suppose it sounds like double dutch but blame that on the idiot (me) trying to use the computer, but it works for me.
Barry

Hi, Racexpert is a rating program that gives a Speed Rating, a Form Rating and a Power Rating, the man who runs it is called Peter and he gives free Saturday ratings, you only have to ask. There is a lot more to it and the team are bringing new features almost every week. Having said that it is expensive but for anybody who takes his racing serously it is a must. I dont have it because some days I am too under the weather to know what day it is never mind trying to pick winners. I have been going to ask the members if they want some systems, but I am unable to put the selections up as I have said. There is a few big ones and some small ones.
Barry

Hi, sorry I have not put up the rest of the system yet but here is the rest.

    flat part
wt. carried on previous outings
above 9st add 1pt per pound
below 9st deduct 1pt per pound
amateur races work from 11st
ladies races work from 9st 7lb

type of race ratings + or -
handicap + 10pts
apprentice h’cap + 7pts
non h’cap + 3pts
non h’cap apprentise + 2pts
maiden =
auction or claiming =
handicap seller – 4pts
non h’cap seller – 14pts

number of runners in previous race
7 runners deduct 2pts
6 runners deduct 3pts
5 runners deduct 5pts
4 runners deduct 8pts
3 runners deduct 11pts do not rate any under 3 runners

    5-7fur 1 length = 3pts, 3/4 & 1/2 lengths = 2pts, nk,hd,sh =1pts
8-13fur 1 length = 2pts, 3/4 & 1/2 lengths = 1pt
14+fur 1length = 1pt

    maximum winning distance table
5-7fur max = 3 lengths
8-10fur max = 5 lengths
11-14fur max = 7 lenths
15+fur max = 9 lenths

    days since ran
30-59 days deduct 3pts
60-89 days deduct 6pts
90+ days deduct 13pts

    weight to be carried today
above 9st deduct 1pt per lb
below 9st deduct 1pt per lb
amateur races work from 11st
ladies races work from 9st 7lb

    using form from abroad
irish racing deduct 5pts
french racing deduct 3pts
italian racing deduct 10pts
any other country minus 14 pts

The idea is to start the rating from the second horse and rate from there.

I got this all including the monatry value on a A4 paper that is why I had trouble putting it on a site before it all srambled together.

dave jay the first post was the start of the system using the race value in pts to form a rating, this was a computer system that somebody had changed to manual. now it is the other way round

I have never used it properly I only use the first part with the class of the race and racecourse class to compare todays race with a previous race.
Barry
