rich, he had a much, much harder race in last year’s World Hurdle, then came here and gave 8lbs to Mighty Man and still slapped him easy. This time round he had a very easy time against rubbish and again meets rubbish off levels.

    Hope this helps!!

Well, it’s nice to know my horse is "rubbish" Big Bucks. I’m guessing you’ve never owned a horse because if anyone who had would never dream of saying something so hurtful.

All I can say is that Bouggler is "rubbish", an awful lot of people — you included — would like to own such rubbish!

As far as taking on Big Buck’s and the others in the race is concerned, they are truly outstanding horses and all we can hope is that Bouggler runs well ,enjoys himself and comes home safe. He’s only a five-year-old and I would have thought next season could be his year.

But you can only dream can’t you?

I hope you all enjoy Aintree and keep your fingers crossed for us on Thursday.

Although there seem to be about a million people queuing for the buses, they do leave very frequently, are reasonably priced and are probably your best bet.

It’s quite a trek from the station to the course and although it might be a pleasant way on the way there, there is quite a bit of walking to do at the course and you might be too tired to attempt it on the way back.

He was going like a winner — in my opinion! — at Cheltenham in the Cleeve Hurdle, then didn’t get up the hill.

The only other option at the Festival is the Pertemps final and his rating means he’d have top weight as well as the hill to cope with.

According to the jockey at Haydock, he does stay three miles, but he said possibly not at Cheltenham, so Aintree’s flat track should suit him better.

If he doesn’t go novice chasing next season, maybe he’ll develop a bit more stamina and the World Hurdle will be on the agenda. I’m sure Emma (Lavelle) is thinking about next year already.

Quite honestly, he’s done so much more than we ever dreamed that anything else is a bonus.

I didn’t back him myself when he won at Aintree last year!

    Hello Ken

Thanks for your welcome. I will try, but I’m not the greatest tipster. The only time I was convinced he’d win was the one time he hasn’t made the frame so far!!

    Hello everyone

As one of the very lucky people who own Bouggler, this thread prompted me to join the forum.

We were delighted with his run at Haydock yesterday, particularly as he doesn’t actually celebrate his fifth birthday until March.

Aidan Coleman said afterwards that he wasn’t sure if he would have won without the interference, but that he would have been second for sure.

However, I don’t think the offending jockey can have done it deliberately. It would take enormous presence of mind — and a lot of luck — at the end of a race to decide to change your stick into the wrong hand in the hopes that it might make your horse drift and ensure your closest rival couldn’t get past.

I think it’s more likely that he didn’t realise Bouggler was still so much in contention and wanted to give Souffleur the rail to help him.

We were disappointed by what happened, but there’s always another day and if the roles had been reversed I’m sure we would be saying "That’s racing."

Most importantly of all, Bouggleur came back with a smile on his face and no injuries. His next outing should be at Aintree and then maybe he can take his revenge — not literally I hope!
