Look at the time of the race in which Deep Impact was defeated and then compare that to the races which Deeep Impact won.
regards bzm
Purwell,
I think you’re safe to assume this was a tactical move and is both telling of itself, and an indication of the thoroughness of his legal counsel.
Grant-
Where are the timelords when you need them.
All Japanese racing is conducted at a generous tempo. This race is the exception which proves the rule.If you take a base of 12s/furlong and compare the variation between all his races on the RP site, this is shown to be the significantly slowest career performance.A note of warning;he can be ridden handy re his Kikuka Sho comments in running, but apparently settles better with the exaggerated waiting.
His apparent ability to accelerate through the bend may be somewhat illusory as the leaders are already trucking along and Japanese riders normally wait to straighten, correctly in my opinion, before asking for maximum effort.
Whilst I agree there is something of Secretatiat about him ,Arc day the standard Japanese firm conditions will not prevail, the prevalent clean running of Japanese group racing is unlikely to be evident and going via the cape may mean sitting six deep.
Excluding the Japanese Derby, where Kent Desormeux rode a horse who according to the ratings had only a runner’s shot,Deep Impact’s sole defeat occasioned a race where foreign riders where involved at the business end.
Its not that Take is poor technically but tactically he’s not versatile. If,however he were to be lost in a taxi Arc day and Dettori,Le Maire,Soumillion or one of a number of others were to be pressganged into service it wouuld be race on.I’m likewise assuming that Ballydoyle has a runner and that the the field is of 16 runners
Grant.

Re Breeders Cup
If this gives the sense of deja vu after I postulated a defeat for Hurricane Run last saturday,I apologize.Never been left handed, with Fallon does not have the option let alone likeklyhood of going off the front end plus
a big trip away.If not temperamentally doudtful remarkably ignorant for a horse of his experience.Add to the mix Churchill’s tight inner grass and first time against older pros its fanciful to think he can win a race which is perenially filled with solid performers but difficult to win. Then again theres the dirt option with either a wolves or lingfield conditions event as a lead up.
Grant.
I think the irony of Stoue’s reply was lost on the reporter.Alternatively it’s not the most ignorant thing to say as a Coolmore franchisee.
The prohibative entry fees and timing hinder it from being any kind of championship event. My suggestion would be to take a cut on the prizemoney for the time being, make it a 16 runner limit, have an initial entry fee of around £1500 and pay the supplementary fee say £25000 down to eighth place. On top of that make it a race for which you have to qualify by earning points in an extensive list of preliminary races. It will take a little time to weigh the value of the traditional lead ups but the race needs to be democratized both financially and in terms of its composition as thereare far too many other options nowadays.
