Al ferof one of only two horse s to defeat jumping sensation sprinter sacre at Cheltenham. Plus put cue card and spirit son to bed in the same race so on that evidence I think he has all the credentials to go all the way. Still wouldn’t mind seeing a rematch between sprinter sacre and al ferof after his blunder in the Arkle but never mind. I’m guessing nicholls will take 1-1 score between the two after the tingle creek destruction. Al ferof loves the hill and stays forever, god knows why nicholls didn’t think he’d get the trip in the paddy power hes by Dom alco (Neptune colognes) sire swear he won the national over 4 miles, anyway al ferof to out them all hope for rain then he’ll do the same as the ill fated synchronised and let em all get on with it and power passed them all when they’re treading water trying to get up the hill. In the words of ruby Walsh form is temperary class is permanent and defeating them horses in the supreme novice the way he did is some class of a horse.

I m awaiting the chase debut of colour squadron. He seems to be be keeping this horse wrapped up for something big. The Arkle I am thinking could slip under the radar. Big price and is sure to improve for a fence or two.

Does anybody think flemenstar will stay at 2miles or step if he stays at 2mile do you think he ll trouble sprinter sacre? Can never get the image of al ferof destroying spirt son cue card and sprinter sacre up the hill in the supreme novice 2011 surely proves sprinter sacre is not unbeatable. Unlucky to blunder in the Arkle think he ll be a revelation this season gold cup winner? Maybea big price up for offer

My opinion on a few points raised on Zarkandar / Grandouet
Do you think he suited by a fast pace? He won a triumph that was run at a strong pace.
Lump it all on Grandouet? If I remember wasn’t he 3rd to Zarkandar in the triumph????
Zarkandar problems cough, too soon after Newbury, started season too late? All factors that would effect any horses performance but all rolled in to one I don’t think he did to bad.

Plus he’s the half brother to zarkava, which has got to be worth something

I think sir des champs is too lazy to win the gold cup I ll await the run of flemenstar as I think he is the better of the Irish challengers also give a squeak of a chance to al ferof depending on how he’s done over summer remember the supreme novice when he came through cue card, sprinter sacre and, spirit son after be 15 lengths down and hard at work for over a 1/2 mile out, shows he loves the hill and over 3 1/4 miles you have to get up that hill. Massive price at 50/1. Hope he gets his chance after a difficult season last year.

With daryl Jacob back in the saddle with Zarkandar he knows the horse better than anyone with prospect wells receiving 17lb today it was a good display of how well Zarkandar stays. Last year didn’t go to plan with little niggles and coughs hopeful of a much improved challenge for the crown of champion hurdler still a long way off the finished article but a solid start.

Like they said after his 5th in the champion last year of you watch the closing stages nothing gets up the hill better. If he’s sitting 4th at the bottom of the hill he ll power home.

So much for Zarkandar getting mullered!! Maybe he ll get a bit more respect from HF lovers now. I tipped and backed him for CH about may time looks like it’ll be a cracking race. HF is beatable remember solwit, 1 thing correct me if I’m wrong HF doesnt find as much as some under pressure.

This has Quito s name written all over it his jumping is one of the best I ve seen this year apart from( kauto stars at haydock) it’s all about the jumping as kauto proved. Can’t really be risking any on quel espirit he’s not quite got it yet Quito to be unbeaten this season hope he stays fit and graces the fences at Cheltenham.

With grandouet winning in such style think the form for zarkankar is working out very good seen as they’ve meet twice and Zarkandar won both times, granted grandouet was going to make a real race of it at aintree before been brought down, but saying that he dumped sticky arse geraghty out when seemingly cruising to victory the other week, so with that in mind and hurricane fly looking a tough one for Mullins to get fit Zarkandar seems the best option.

I really don’t think long run is going to be able to win the gold cup this time round. A horse of his age should of troused kauto star on seasonal debut. Jumping was not up to scratch I think he’s going to be an expensive horse to follow this season. One thing you need as a top class chaser is a quality jump kauto was pulling half a length if not more with every fence , long run had youth, speed on his side but if the jumping doesn’t happen then it counts for nothing. Quito de la roque is a prime example of a top class jumper. Disappointed with long run but kauto is class. The king is back long live the king.

Stilvi Isn’t the supreme novice and champion hurdle run over the same course and distance on the same day? So how can you say al ferof wouldn’t finish halfway in the champ when he racked up a time quicker than hurricane fly on the same day and c&d??? Anyway he ain’t hurdling now so doesn’t really matter just thought your comment was a bit ill informed. Should make for good watching if both peds and al ferof are fit

Hurricane fly will be another year older. Which in my eyes makes him more open to problems fitness wise,Zarkandar s proved the course is no problem to him and will be prepared this season with this race as his main aim. Plus nicholls said last year he thinks he’s there own little hurricane fly so I think if he holds him in such high regard, I think he knows a good horse when he sees one plus the stable looks too be hacking up everywhere already this season.
    Nice treble I had today

    Al ferof 10/1 arkle
    Zarkandar 10/1 champ hurdle
    Hinterland 8/1 triumph

    £10 ew
