Mastercraftsman would not go through that hole. That’s a shame. Of course what can I say about Goldikova. Brilliant. I’m so ecstatic right now for her connections. She’s a special one. I sure hope they keep her in training. My girl Gotta Have Her ran well but nobody was gonna catch California Flag today. He left the gate and never looked back. Conduit ran the same race he did last year. Moore did exactly what he needed to do and that was keep an eye on Precious Passion who ran his heart out. He just got caught at the line. A great run by him.
Cheers Breezing.
My favourite horse of the season.
His trainer is super nice as well. Just a laid back kind of guy. I’ve seen Mine That Bird twice this year and the word cute comes to mind with him. He’s small and has a very pretty head. In fact he looks a lot like his sire. Summer Bird is just the opposite. Good size in stature and a more masculine head. Both can run though. ;D
Here is a pic of him a friend took of him yesterday. She’s a professional working the cup.

And also one shot from the inside of the marathon. No offense to Man Of Iron but I wish the result ended this way. ;D I was so hoping Cloudy got that photo. Just a bob of the head decided the outcome.

Rainbow View was my pick but just didn’t have it today. I do like her a lot though. Life Is Sweet has been beaten by Zenyatta but boy she ran like her today!!!
I’m very happy for Henry Cecil he deserves this win. Julien did not have Forever Together as close as he should going around the turn but she rallied very well for third. In the end she got beat by a better filly today and had too much to do. Now she’s off to the breeding shed and I wish her well.
YAY Informed Decision and Jonathan Sheppard who is having a very good day! Such a wonderful, wonderful man who is going to lose one of his stars to the shed this year.
Father Time ran like a busted arsehole. Not a great way to wake up on a Saturday morning!
LOLOL That’s because it’s Friday. LOLOL Sorry I had to say that. LOLOL
I’m so proud of Cloudy’s Knight. Rosemary was really upset that he lost but I think she rode him perfectly and should not be disappointed. He ran his big 9 year old heart out.
Tapitsfly wins the Juv Fillies Turf. Smart Seattle had to check hard going into the turn. Lost all momentum after that. I love the Tapits. He really stamps his horses grey. LOLOL

I have chosen Conduit and Spanish Moon. However, I would put Precious Passion in my top three. Why? This horse LOVES hard ground and he has speed that carries. He may not win it but he’ll be damn close to try and steal it. The closers need to keep an eye on this one. He’s going to get the ground he loves at Santa Anita.
I’m picking Richard’s Kid to win at a price. BUUUUT I think he may not be of the top caliber of Zenyatta, Summer Bird or Rip Van Winkle. Still, I had to keep him in my prices. I just can’t bring myself to toss Zenyatta simply because she runs very well over this track and I think that gives her a huge advantage. It would be foolish for me to toss the Europeans and I’m having to choose RVW over the other entry. There are a bunch of horses that could win this race. Gio Ponti and Summer Bird come to mind. I would not be surprised if any of the top 6 choices on the board won. I think it may boil down to a rider’s race. Certainly there is talent in all of them.

This is my take on Godolphin.
I think we are stronger this year in the Classic than last year. Last year we had Curlin. One horse. No Big Brown (I’m holding back vommit at the mention because of IEAH and Dutrow… but will manage). This year we have 2 classic winners in Mine That Bird and Summer Bird which as of now the latter is the stronger of the two. We don’t have a clear top older male in here but we do have a few that have knocked each other around for a few races and several are based in CA (Colonel John, Richard’s Kid and Einstein). Then there is Zenyatta. So at least in this race we are loaded more than last year. I’m more worried about Rip Van Winkle than Girolamo. A mistake? Maybe.
The F&M Classic is one race where Godolphin could win and is kind of expected to with Music Note. She’s strong and on a winning streak. The only thing I don’t like about her are the odds. LOLOL
Sara Louise is a possible upsetter in the F&M Sprint for them though she will have to run the race of her life to get by Ventura and Informed Decision.
Mastery has a brilliant shot in the Marathon IMO and he is a horse I will put in my combinations when picking. I’m rooting for Coudy’s Knight and all of Jonathan Sheppard’s horses.
Can they sweep? Anything is possible but I don’t think they will. Besides the American’s you have your own contenders to deal with too. Can the Europeans sweep? It’s possible but again I don’t think they will. They certainly will win and probably several each day.
I have the past performances in a pdf for Friday if anyone is interested. Just email me.
California Flag got loose this morning and decided to try going the opposite way sans rider. He stopped at the gap (where the horses come and go from the track in the morning) and walked off fine. From what was reported he was flying. It must have had a lot of people holding their breath though.

Was planning to open a topic for each of teh key Breeders Cup Races Thursday evening. Hope it won’t be hijacking this thread? Let me know if you object.
It will probably be easier to keep track of all the races and comments that way. Or you could break it down by day.
I love this show and am glad that Frank Lyons is back on!
Pursuit of the Cup is great. You can also access the videos at The Blood Horse.
