Could say exactly the same about the Galileo-Kendor nick in Recital’s case surely?
I would not be surprised if Fame did not stay his performance over 13f was less than convincing…
Liked the second horse Nebula Storm I reckon he goes for the Irish Leger though and Oxx took that with ALandi a few years back
Recital appeals more on pedigree than Seville but Sunday will tell us more
May 5, 2011 at 19:11 in reply to: Shock Horror – Jockey takes wrong course in X Country Chase #353959Moehat, yes they certainly USED to have an eventing course and they held an International Advanced competition there in late summer but I think they cancelled it a few years back due to lack of sponsorship
In fact I think Punchestown held the European Eventing championships around the turn of the century.
It was a very popular event in its time.
Touche Chiswick!
Please do not bring those horrible, obnoxious, uneducated, selfish, narcissistic people that kick a ball around whilst wingeing and fixing their hair gel onto a racing forum

These are both things that I think I read somewhere so do not take it for gospel
Quite a few times I have heard Frankie is not very nice man but just good at PR.
Also I am sure I read of Ryan Moore being given a fine for an altercation with a steward, something large, 1000 pounds springs to mind. I may have got this completely wrong and this happened to someone else!
In any event Ryan is definitely shy and to be honest if any of us had not grown up with cameras in our faces we might reasonably be expected to be nervous.
It does not come across well to the audience but hey the guys great at his job. Perfect ride on Treasure Beach!!
It is my impression that TF ratings seems to favour performances in the UK and never rates those in other countries as high.
May 3, 2011 at 19:38 in reply to: Shock Horror – Jockey takes wrong course in X Country Chase #353579It is really not that hard to remember. In the sport of 3 day eventing every time you do a competition you have to learn a new 2 or 3 mile track with loads of fences and jumps of different kinds along the way.
It s actually really fun as I would imagine the cross country races are. I would love to go round one of those courses one day at high speed!!
I do not know what authority you have Kingfisher for the proposition that STY does not like fast ground. His only run on soft he lost and otherwise his runs have been on good to soft or good ground.
Nothing in that to suggest this fellow will not like a rattle in the ground, and in any event he hacked up on top of the ground at the weekend.
Australia being so hot and dry their horses are typically tougher than over here as they train and run on faster ground "as a rule" though obviously there are exceptions.
I am all for arbitrary opinions but they will not cut up in a debate if you fail to back them up with evidence
Context of the times needs to be considered. STY hacked up in a slow time whereas Frankel was all out and produced the best performance of the Guineas in a long time to produce his time
We just have to wait and see what the guineas field produce this season. Cannot see Dubawi Gold winning anything he was completely flattered by the way he ran the race.
Native Khan I hope can pick up something at Group 2 level or lower level Group 1, I like the horse
As for the other G1 winners in the field, they have a lot to prove in terms of whether they trained on or not.
Ginger I personally had no problem with Frankel’s time, I though the performance was exceptional and that is all that matters to me. I am merely referring to a number of people who suggested the time was on the slow side given the appearance of the race
Times have never mattered in the UK the same way they matter in the US.
Surely everyone has been over the time thing already with Frankel’s disappointing time on fast ground?
The Melbourne Cup was further than he had ever run before and there was always a risk he would not stay. Would Workforce win an Ascot Gold Cup? I somehow doubt it.
He has too much speed and class to win over the longer distances and I guess that is why Coolmore bought him as a breeding prospect, and also to further advertise the potential of High Chaparral who has been slightly overshadowed by Galileo and Montjeu in EUrope.
Remember this fellow won over 7f as well, and I am absolutely certain Workforce could never do that!
He was VERY impressive yesterday, not sure what else he could have done bar sprouting wings. Could have won by 20 if Seamie had turned him loose earlier I reckon.
Certainly the most exciting middle distance prospect Coolmore have had in a good few years. Very good for racing to have the whole of the Australian racing community backing him.
Tattersalls GC will be an exciting prospect that is for sure. Would not be surprised if WF dodges to be honest.
Hey everyone,
Just arrived on account of the impending closure of BBC 606. Slightly feel like I am in a massive group therapy session right now!
ANyway, absolutely love racing and been lucky enough to be around these noble creatures my whole life. Interest begin in NH but has crystallised in recent years on the flat, a particular favourite of mine being Sea The Stars. (I admit I shed a tear when he won the Arc!)
Just hoping to have some good old fashioned racing debate/discussion and look forward to hearing peoples opinions.
Regards
Admiral
Really impressed with the Australian horse. Yes he beat nothing, but he basically did in an exercise canter.
Bring on Workforce…he was the best of a weak bunch of 3yo middle distancers last season and very much still got it all to prove now he does not have that ridiculous weight for age allowance.
Carlton House to top off a fairy tale year for the ROYAL FAMILY!
