Not sure the above is quite a proverb but it was inspired by a story
by my daughter in law’s Dad. He’s from the east end of London and
the first time he came to Glasgow (many moons ago), arriving by train
in Glasgow Central, he was greeted by a huge banner hanging in the station
stating “Welcome to Glasgow”. Some local worthy had managed to dob in paint.
directly underneath on the banner, “Now get tae f*c-k”. He nearly peed himself
laughing, he thought it was the funniest thing he’d ever seen. Absolutely true
