A few laying Edwardstone , guys what’s your thoughts ? , I do want to take him on but to be fair to him he hasn’t put a good wrong , it’s not exactly a vintage Arkle
March 13, 2022 at 20:19 #1586915Hdlg, id question the formline personally, highly tried over hurdles and the best he could do was 150, so id be skeptical until he runs against the irish that 160 is in his grasp, 8yo also, ill be surprised if he doesnt go off 3rd fav
March 13, 2022 at 20:33 #1586918Ham may depend on how the Irish do earlier , if they have money in there pockets and then they may take him on , I’m def not convinced by Blue Lord either
March 13, 2022 at 20:45 #1586920It’s funny how people see things differently, as I can’t see Edwardstone being beaten. He’s a more mature horse this year (look at his pedigree and you’ll see he’s from proper, late-developing NH stock) and he’s only reaching his peak at eight.
He was the best of these over hurdles and has only improved with another year on his back; Blue Lord and Rivière D’Etel have beaten nothing (look through their form) and the assumption that the Irish form is stronger rests on the Elliott mare’s fine second to Ferny Hollow and the belief that that sadly absent rival is the second coming.
The only possible danger is a rush of blood to Tom Cannon’s head; he’s a fine jockey, but this will be a whole new experience for him. There’ll be loads of pace in the race, and he’ll get a lead as long as he wants one, so all he has to do is sit tight, pop away, challenge at the last… and he’ll win going away.
He’s my nap of the festival; I don’t lay horses, but for the purposes of this thread I’ll say Gaelic Warrior and my each-way would be Joyeux Machin in the bumper, especially if we can nick a few extra places on Tuesday night/Wednesday morning.
March 13, 2022 at 21:15 #1586921It’s strange , it’s a weak arkle yet still an intriguing race
March 13, 2022 at 21:22 #1586922I keep hearing people say that it’s a weak Arkle but it isn’t.
What it is is a race lacking a real superstar like Sprinter Sacre, Altior or Shishkin. But those were exceptional horses; true greats of the sport (potentially, in the case of the last-named).
Just because a race lacks a world-class prospect, that doesn’t make it a weak race; merely an average one. And who knows how good these could go on to be. 🤷♂️
March 13, 2022 at 21:31 #1586925Nap Blue Lord 4-1
Lay Bob Olinger (evens in places)
EW Lisnagar Oscar 33-1March 13, 2022 at 21:49 #1586928GG what’s made you go with Lisnagar ?
March 13, 2022 at 23:11 #1586935I keep talking about divorcing him but I’ve never actually done it. He says he’s going to try harder and I just need to wait till the festival, then all will be good between us again.
March 14, 2022 at 05:11 #1586942Aww greens in love …..just remember though love tends to be costly lol
March 14, 2022 at 09:08 #1586946Nap – Allaho
Lay- Gaelic Warrior – purely based on the lack of experience, difficulty of the race/ track vs the price which is ludicrousEW- Statuaire – mares novice 20s
March 14, 2022 at 15:45 #1586999Nap – Constitution Hill … by at least 5 lengths.
Lay – Honeysuckle. Overrated horse and jockey IMO. Appreciate It and/or Teahupoo to spoil their party.
EW – Bell Ex One.
March 14, 2022 at 16:32 #1587004Nap: burning victory in the mares
Lay: bob in the jlt
E/w: eric bloodaxe in the AB
March 14, 2022 at 17:35 #1587014Gladiateur, you might feel a bit more confident after Tom Cannon has ridden a double today.
March 14, 2022 at 17:42 #1587015Nap Allaho
Lay Shiskin (no idea why I’ve chosen him, some sort of bad feeling)
EW AlaphilippeMarch 14, 2022 at 17:45 #1587017Nap: Allaho
Lay: Honeysuckle. I wasn’t wild about her last run, and Appreciate It could be a monster.
EW: Sky Pirate in the Grand Annual. Too much weight to win but never runs a bad race here these days.
March 14, 2022 at 17:46 #1587018Ruby- thanks for the positive angle, but Plumpton on a Monday is a bit different to the Cheltenham festival. 😂
I like Tom as a jockey but I’m a bit worried he’ll kick on too soon and get chinned close home. If he holds on until the last, Edwardstone will p*** up.
As you may have seen, I tipped him in the opening post of the Arkle thread; I’ve been topping up all season and, suffice to say, he’s potentially my biggest winner of the week.
