A serious post
we hear folks complaining about too many handicaps on a saturday , too much AW racing in the summer …some even advise having anything to do with the sand
However
You the punter can change everything !! The bookies / Bha , need your permission to run as many races as possible , they desperately need your co operation to bet and lose as much as possible , to keep the show on the road
Lovely !!!
But …suppose you dont bet , suppose you withold your cash for 3 months , dont bet on a single horse race ….Oh my …will that make a difference…..absolutely yes
The bookies take punters for complete mugs , so do the BHA , and in fairness they are right , because despite some murmering about too much racing , the levy numbers are not down at all (ok Donations have helped
So if you want to make a difference …just use your veto , withold your cash , if the majority of punters did this ….the racing program would change DRASTICALLY
You have the power to effect change …why dont’ you do it
August 21, 2014 at 18:47 #488786I haven’t attended a race meeting nor had a bet since April, so while I wholeheartedly agree with comments ricky I’m just one man so don’t believe I can tear down the system.
August 21, 2014 at 19:23 #488793Fair enough Phil ,appreciate that , but if a lot of punters followed suit …I promise you things would change rapidly
August 21, 2014 at 19:32 #488794A serious suggestion
Why don’t we all meet up
and form a huge group
on the edge of Beachy Head
all carrying placards readingWe are all addicts and
we are not taking it any moreAugust 21, 2014 at 19:49 #488797Quality …..
August 21, 2014 at 20:09 #488799Plenty of punters are already doing it Ricky, albeit involuntary.
Backing the hundreds of non runners every week, how much levy is lost from that?
When have Bittar and his cronies ever expressed concern or disappointment at all the non runners, nevermind doing anything about it?
Nothing will change, they will just continue to walk hand in hand with the bookies, even the two racing channels and the sports daily paper are in the pockets of the bookies, it’s hopeless, you’re better off not bothering and finding another hobby.
August 21, 2014 at 20:52 #488810Eddie , you are probably right , its pretty darn hopeless , but I just wanted to remind folks they have the veto , they can decide to
not play ball with the consortium
If 10 guys or girls read this , think about it ,
do it
, I would be delighted , we the punters can decide how racing should be run , if only we could find a way of making that happen
I took up poker about 10 yrs back , so apart from the jumping which I heartily enjoy , my betting days are long gone ,,,my veto is being played as often as possible
cheers
August 22, 2014 at 10:03 #488876The All Weather is a complete joke, no one is making a penny backing in this sham. People need to abandon it in droves before the authorities will react.
August 22, 2014 at 11:23 #488885All Weather Racing had its place nowadays. For me it’s not a joke, not a sham but an extremely entertaining, exciting and lucrative part of the sport.
August 22, 2014 at 11:39 #488887Quite right, Roberto. Traditionalists have a grudge against all-weather racing, but it is the way forward.
The clue is in the name: ALL weather. That doesn’t mean these surfaces should be banished to the cold months – these tracks fully deserve meetings all year round.
August 22, 2014 at 15:54 #488911I don’t care for Southwell or Kempton, but Lingfield is ok and i’m delighted Wolvers is back on. Can’t beat Friday nights in the winter – a veritable gold mine.
August 22, 2014 at 16:08 #488914Could you chaps stay on topic …this is not an AW bashing thread
cheers ears
Its about your veto ….do you want to use it or be a pawn forever ??
August 22, 2014 at 17:36 #488923Of course it’s all too easy to start threads like this. There’s a lot of bashing going on but nothing to say what the alternatives are, nothing to say how racing should be financed etc.
August 22, 2014 at 20:46 #488945Ken
lets have your ideas then ???
I am simply reminding you , that you have more clout than you think
cheers and good punting
