Okay folks – we’ve had at least a couple of threads recommending good films (I hired quite a few recommended on here and it was a most worthwhile exercise). Now the other side of the coin. Name recent films you’ve seen that were cr@p.
My 3 ro start with, in no particular order are:-Peter Pan (starring Jeremy Sumpter). Pure Dross
The Lemony Snickett film. (Boresville City, Tennessee)
and
The Flying Scotsman (recent release). Played by people pretending to be made out of cardboard. The script makes Dan Brown seem like Shakespeare.
July 10, 2007 at 20:26 #107216Altman’s "The Player". Not funny, not ironic, not a scything parody of Hollywood.
"Gosford Park" – stellar cast spend three hours doing **** all. Marvellous.

The Big Lebowski,
A life aquatic,
Truely awful unfunny films. I like a good mix of films including arty types, but the directors of these films were trying to be too clever by half.
For instance I absoluetly adore Fargo by the Coens.Sorry for the quote should have been separate reply, my cursor seems to move on its own towards the qoute icon.
July 10, 2007 at 22:42 #107252I thought Gosford Park was ok.
And I really enjoyed the Big Lebowski.
Most films are complete shite, but the second Britget Jones film deserves special mention.

July 10, 2007 at 23:06 #107261Why do I get the feeling that Die Hard 4.0 will eventually worm it’s way into this topic?
Pirates of the Caribbean 2 for me. Looks to me that they had just one sequel lined up, but the studio then remembered just how much money the first film made, and got them to spin it out. Thus we’re left with this pathetic effort. I probably won’t ever see the 3rd film, as there would be a high risk of flashbacks!
July 10, 2007 at 23:07 #107262Armageddon.
About 15 minutes in, I was praying for the real thing.
Utter shite.

I mean ffs, why?
July 11, 2007 at 08:40 #107282I forgot to mention "Lost in Translation" … actually we mentioned it on a previous thread … but it deserves its place in this one.

July 11, 2007 at 09:06 #107286The Children Of Men – terrible adaptation of the book – I threw the DVD out afterwards = whoooshhhhhhhh all the way down the shute with a bang.

Harry Potter – all of them bar the first one – they should be collected into a big pile and burnt to a cinder

The Dark Is Rising – hasn’t been released yet but changing the main character an 11 year-old English boy to a 14 year-old American and deleting any reference to King Arthur
– this will be the No: 1 worst film ever…..July 11, 2007 at 09:45 #107289Echo Friggo; POTC 2 was a shocker.
(Three isn’t bad, but not a patch on the original and hugely helped by a Keith Richards cameo).
"Hitch" I saw by accident on a plane. Took weeks to recover.
But the worst…
"Casino Royale" Would rather dab my eyeballs with the spores of an airborne flesh eating virus than complete my Bond DVD collection with this violent and boring nonsense.

Daniel Craig……… no film could be bad with him as the lead….
July 11, 2007 at 12:03 #107322Casino Royale was really poor.
Alien3, for me was pathetic, Weaver over did the shaved headed bint and wanted to be too hard, unlike in the first one where she was a proper girl with long hair and determination.
Terminator2, the killing machine that wasn’t allowed to kill anybody .. so they could get it a 15 certificate .. what a joke !!
July 11, 2007 at 12:49 #107330Kingston, LOL.

Looks or not, the Scouser is no Bond. Casting the unamusing Daniel Craig as Bond is like letting D A Nolan run one in the Falmouth.
Aussie supermodel George Lazenby may have been largely unimpressive as the wisecracking espionagist – but at least he featured in a decent film.
July 11, 2007 at 13:50 #107345Oceans 11
The remake, never seen the original, complete drivel. Why they’ve made a 12 and 13 I don’t know.
The Godfather3
Why oh why after 2 classics did they make this rubbish?
American Pie
The only film I have ever walked out of. Old old jokes.
Meet the parents.
Ah Bob, I loved your work, say no to the money you have enough.
ANYTHING with Nicolas Cage in it.
How did he get an Oscar for Leaving Las Vegas? Fookin disgrace!!!!
Goin to have to stop for a while I’m gettin a bit wound up but there are many more and I’ll be back.
July 11, 2007 at 19:26 #107414Maxilon – I thought Hitch was great! That said I’m a soppy female who likes rom-coms

The Mummy Returns was the biggest load of embarrassing drivel I have ever watched.
The latest Peter Pan was indeed, awful.
I love horror, and I enjoyed the first Saw of the trilogy, but Saw III took things too far with the gore. It put me off my popcorn.

Absolutely. Just SFX & no plot. And yet, I thought the first one was great fun.

Thought Godfather 3 was a pretty good film in its own right, because it was been compared to the other 2, that it got a fairly muted response, also thought "Meet the Parents" was quiet funny, where as the follow up "Meet the Fockers" was putrid.
