That was awesome. He looks a very very good horse. Hes in my festival lucky at decent prices, now wish I would have had a nice single on him too!
January 30, 2016 at 17:29 #1231316Awesome performance. Lines up in March in that condition and it’s game over.
January 30, 2016 at 17:53 #1231322Wins over Deputy Dan, Reve de Sivola and Ptit Zig don’t scream 13/8f. A lot of his price comes from the way he travels. You can also criticise him for never having won after getting into a battle.
Got some nice unexposed Irish horses and the reigning champ (although I don’t fancy him myself) and runner-up (don’t fancy him either) up against him. Race still looks way too competitive to consider backing him at 2.6 IMO, but he’s looked awesome, no doubt.
January 31, 2016 at 10:15 #1231403Charlie Longsdon’s star hurdler Kilcooley faces a race against time to be fit for the World Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival.
The seven-year-old has not been seen in competitive action since running away with the West Yorkshire Hurdle at Wetherby in late October.
Longsdon had hoped to have his charge back in action in this weekend’s Cleeve Hurdle at Cheltenham, but he is not yet ready to make his return.
Longsdon said: “He was meant to go to the Cleeve Hurdle on Saturday but he has had a few problems.
“He had a haematoma on a point of his hip, which meant he missed the Long Walk, and then he pulled a muscle a few weeks ago.
“We have seven weeks to get him there (Cheltenham) and if we don’t get any hiccups and get a clean run he will go, but the chances he makes it are 50-50
“If he gets to Cheltenham he is the forgotten horse in the race, even though he is a 25-1 shot.
“There is always Aintree, Punchestown and France if he doesn’t get there.”
January 31, 2016 at 11:31 #1231421That’s the most info Mr L has offered all season on Kilcooley, and the very mention of alternative targets suggests he’s pretty much accepted things. The timing seems more than a coincidence though, having watched Thistlecrack’s imperious performance yesterday!
Still, I’ll be frustrated if he doesn’t show up. He too was stepping up in trip, as Thistlecrack had done, when he showed the best form by far of his career in sluicing up in November on the back of an already improving profile. 25/1 NRNB makes plenty of EW appeal.
February 1, 2016 at 08:07 #1231519Thislte crack to short to back at 13/8 as a single. Stick him in Accumulators, Yankees and lucky 15’s and you wont go to far wrong. Hes my banker with Alpha Des Obeaux to come 2nd.
VVM is a very good mare, but her price is a joke! I was visually impressed by her at Ascot run. However her OR of 149 over hurdles does not cut the mustard for the WH. Annie Power was rated at 165 going into the 2014 WH and came second with 7 pound allowance. After thriselcrack performance in the Cleeve hes got to have a rating around the 173 mark therefore VVM will hill have 20 plus pounds to find, around a stone taking into account the 7 pound Mares allowance.
This leaves the MH and the Ryan air for VVM.
If Anne power is fit (speculation building) she will surely go for the Mares race to make amends for last years fall. Its doubtful VVM would run if Annie power was fit, however, if Annie Power isn’t fit for the festival i feel the mares hurdle is the right race for VVM.
Over fences shes rated 155 so a 162 horse with her mares allowance. Following confirmation of Smad Place going for the gold cup the highest rated horse is Alferof at 165 but hes now 11!
Pricewise has tipped Vaslseur lido rated at 156 VVM has 6 pounds on him.
Ma Filleule Ma filleule came second rated 159 last year and i think VVM stays better and may have improved since her 155 rating.
If Vautour goes for the Gold cup which i think he will. RR will want two darts instead of one as it is likely Gigglestown will have at least 3 runners for the GC. If Vautour goes for the Ryanair and hacks up (which he will) and Djakadam messes up the GC, Mullins and richie will by thinking what a blown opportunity if only!
If Annie Power is fit the mares hurdle. In my opinion the ryan air is obliviously the race for VVM. But if Annie power doesn’t make the festival VVM will win the mares hurdle on the bridle.
My guess is VVM will go the the mares hurdle as it is looking more unlikely Annie power wont make the festival. The Ryan air is the right race but i don’t think they will not run as they want to protect her mark of 155 for the Grand national so she will run of around 11 stone if Many Clouds turns up.
February 1, 2016 at 12:41 #1231547Personally I can’t see VVM ever being risked over fences again.

why? She would be probably running over fences had Annie Power had a good prep for world hurdle. Vvm never fell and won all her chase starts jumping absolutely brilliantly
February 2, 2016 at 14:02 #1231823At first glance, 8/1 an English-trained 1,2,3 here appeals as value to me, now that VV Mag might be Ryanair bound, but I’d be grateful for your thoughts…
February 3, 2016 at 16:19 #1232075It may have been fitness that got Faugheen beaten on reappearence. Fact remains… When Nichols Canyon led Faugheen, Nichols Canyon come out on top. When Faugheen led Nichols Canyon, Faugheen came out on top. Faugheen appears to like – and/or jumps better – when in front. Faugheen would have a better chance of getting his own way – and I wouldn’t be surprised if Mullins wants – Nichols Canyon to go for the World Hurdle. It also frees up Vroom Vroom Mag for the Ryanair.
Value Is EverythingFebruary 5, 2016 at 00:05 #1232280Is Wndsor Park injured, as he has recently disappeared from AP lists?
February 5, 2016 at 08:32 #1232296Yes serious injury. Won’t be running over hurdles again for some time.
February 5, 2016 at 09:12 #1232298Cheers. Boo hoo though, as E/W AP single and a multiple or two have just evaporated!
Still, on Yanworth at 12/1 and Douvan at 5/2, plus Faugheen at 7/4 (after losing to NC) so not all doom and gloom! :DFebruary 5, 2016 at 10:01 #1232310I was on windsor park too. But atleast Iv got Thistlecrack 25/1 and alpha des obeaux 68.0.
Unfortunately your always going to get a few out injured if your backing that early.February 5, 2016 at 12:06 #1232318Yes serious injury. Won’t be running over hurdles again for some time.
Any word on what the injury is? I have been trying to find details for the last couple of weeks.
February 5, 2016 at 22:45 #1232411Vroum Vroum Mag has only won once going left handed and that was a bumper.

Very interesting Mark.
I’ll make a note of that.Value Is Everything -
