What was he like as a hurdler? He certainly likes or used to like Cheltenham. I’ve had to give up on him but he’s bound to do something unpredictable now that I’ve stopped backing him! He’s that sort of horse.

Well he won the Pertemps Final at the 2008 Festival for a start. And of course he won on his return to hurdles at Sandown the run before last.

It’s obviously clutching at straws, but Nigel said plans are flexible, so you never know.

Can anyone tell me or give me a link to the entries for the World Hurdle? I cant seem to find them anywhere; maybe they haven’t been announced as yet?

I don’t think they have. None of the championship hurdle races have entries yet it appears. Someone with access to the race programme will be able to tell you when entries close.

Thanks. Im hoping to see Zaynar entered for the Stayers, I think he could really give Big Bucks a race.

Aren’t they considering the RSA Chase for that one, Gaz?

Yes, i think they are, however, i may take 33s just as a speculative bet incase they feel the staying hurdle division is weak.

I love the horse, always gives his all and so good to see him retain his ability after that tendon injury.

There was an article about it in Observer Sport the other week saying how incredibly successful it is with horses [well, we’re seeing it all the time now, aren’t we] and how they can come back as good as ever. Roll on the day when it will be used so successfull with people.

I remember saying last year that they should consider the WH for Tidal Bay. One of my favourite horses, he always made the odd jumping mistake but this year and last he’s started to get more and more stand offish at fences (i’m not particularly convinced by the something hurting him theory) to the point where it’s become increasingly difficult to get him into a race but he has shown on a few occasions that the engine is still there.

I can’t see him doing anything in the Ryanair or Gold Cup, the Champion Chase (Mastermind excluded) looks a very weak renewal but connections obviously don’t see him as a 2 miler anymore. With no Inglis Drever, the World Hurdle appears the obvious choice to me and whilst I wouldn’t expect him to beat Big Buck’s, if he took back to the smaller obstacles I could see him running into a place.
