Just seen Dettori’s ride in the 7.30 2yr old maiden at Windsor. Horse isn’t going to win and unlikely to place 4th but he more or less stops riding at the 1f pole. There is no point giving the horse a hard ride, but there is a difference between continuing to ride and educate the horse in the last furlong and just giving up and looking disinterested.

    Anyone have an alternative viewpoint?

    Perhaps he was following instructions.

I haven’t seen this race yet but this sort of thing is commonplace and is unfortunately a frustration a punter will have to put up with as nobody appears to have the inclination to enforce riding through the line. The jockey who a few have put up as the best is a dab hand at this sort of thing.
