As I wrote on another thread, sense a stitch up as they are obviously too scared to announce the costs of the new member service and are not giving punters enough time to trial the service before the full subscription kicks in..
Any more than £20/month and I’M OUT!
June 30, 2009 at 21:57 #237174This may be a stupid question BUT this own notes and own ratings service the RP site provides – are they visible to people who work on the site and will they be used to inform bookmakers etc?
June 30, 2009 at 22:10 #237175Cav/Drone….thanks for the collective nods. I’ve been out the country for a few days, so please accept my apologies for the lateness of my reply.
Cheers

.. they will visible to people who work there, if you read the small print the RP could well own the copy right or intellectual property to them as well .. such is life for us small fry in the electronic age.

.. you should really think about moving on and finding a new source for your data.
There’s nothing in the RP that is going to give you an edge over other punters and there never will be.
This is just another thing that makes racing look unattractive to new punters and laughable to the regulars.
Off-line again tonight; they really are unbelievable.

Whatever edge I have comes mainly from the reading and interpreting of form and, formerly, the RP website was far the best vehicle.
The Sporting Life is poor to navigate, and carries insufficient detail; ATR, although greatly improved, is slow and again lacking fundamentals.
Raceform is little more than Son of RP, with even worse s/f’s, and Timeform’s Perspective is just that; promotes their view rather than providing information for one to form their own.
Other than that, I have little experience of any decent form provider, and I’d be grateful; if you, or anyone else, could tell me of one?July 1, 2009 at 02:32 #237203Have you ever thought of going it alone and making your own form guide just based on results?
It’s not that difficult.
July 1, 2009 at 03:16 #237207I’m so annoyed about the new form figures. The Tatling now looks as if he had about 90 runs in 1 season. I’ve constantly e-mailed them about this and just get fobbed off with the same response everytime.
What on earth was wrong with the race navigate system before the update? Jesus wept. Just makes it much less user friendly and takes far longer to navigate.
And you STILL haven’t fixed the form statistics for the horses.
The Tatling’s form figures look like 0281321d243613126553472341932213207578322216505490664668603158470505890/00459683165415-4195363243242
So The Tatling’s had 123 career starts spanning 3 seasons?
You expect to charge people for this service?
And can you please make the site more reliable and usable in Firefox…
We feel that the updates have enhanced the overall usanbility of the site and it would appear that the vast majority of our customers agree.
We appreciate your comments regarding the form figures, however this issue can easily be overcome by referring to the dates within the main form page.
Kind regards,
Ben Walton

Ah come on, don’t fob me off with that rubbish about the form figures.
There were no problems before the first upgrade 6 weeks ago. I e-mailed about it, the people who read the e-mail agreed with me (you if I remember correctly) and said it’d be fixed.
Just admit you’ve been unable to fix it. Very poor.

It’s not that difficult.
I’ve been doing it with northern steeplechasers over the past year with reasonable success. It has allowed me to familiarise myself with one group of horses.

You’re talking to someone who spent 3 months emailing the RP, and tearing their hair out in frustration, (until he kindly folk of this forum stepped in) – and all because my screen resolution was wrong?
July 2, 2009 at 00:55 #237327Reet .. there are plenty of people looking for a challenge, you should pay someone to set something up for you ..

.. easy a pie .. !!

Thanks for that tbr!
They really are an incredible shower of tw*ts, I emailed them a few days ago that I was unable to watch the videos, even though they kept taking my 20p’s. In their usual ‘f*** you jack’ style, not a word from them since.
So tonight I used the above ‘fix’, and, lo and behold, I’m paying them for a service only to be force-fed a Victor Chandler advert before I can view it.
They can stick their videos where the Sun don’t shine!
July 2, 2009 at 04:03 #237352Jesus wept, just turned off the ad blocker.
This is the first time I’ve seen the website without all the adverts and all I can say is that it’s the ugliest website I think I’ve ever seen.
Well I’ve got the problem fixed now anyway. People with ad blockers should simply remove the following site or make it an exception;
2mdn.net
I now have absolutely no adverts on the home page and I only get the VC clip before each RPTV video and also those ridiculous stars next to Casino and Poker.
July 8, 2009 at 11:14 #238420Well, the ‘Member’s Club’ has now started. I’ll be interested to see who joins and why.

You saved me from making that post you made. The exact same thing happened to me a couple of days ago, and they ignored my e-mail.
Half there stories are nicked from Sportinglife anyway, and there cards ain’t much better than anyone else. I see no need for anyone to subscribe to them.

Not exactly nicked – the Sporting Life site news comes almost exclusively from the PA, who also happen to supply an increasing amount of the news for the Racing Post – which is why the same stories frequently appear on both sites.
