Records that will probably never be broken / equalled
Can anyone add to my list?……
Golden Miller’s five Gold Cups
Arkle’s Sandown Course Record
Michael Dickenson 1-2-3-4-5 in The Gold Cup
Red Rum’s 3 National wins
Ardross’s 13 consecutive Group 1 wins
Ribot’s 16 out of 16 at the very highest level
Frankie Dettori’s 7 out of 7 at Ascot
Zenyatta’s USA unbeaten record
…and one for the anaraks, Spindrifter’s run of 18 consecutive second!!!
February 1, 2010 at 19:58 #273471Excuse last entry, I sorely maligned the lovely Spindrifter, 11 wins in a row as a 2-Y-O but can anyone recall the 2-Y-0 from the 1960s that ran second in 18 consecutive races, that’s the horse I was thinking of.

February 1, 2010 at 20:15 #273477Dickinson’s 12 wins one boxing day?
February 1, 2010 at 20:32 #273484What about Crucifix? Won the July Stakes by two lengths on a tight rein. Also the re-run Chesterfield Stakes, the Lavant Stakes at Goodwood and, at the same meeting, the Molecomb Stakes both in a common canter. For the Hopeful Stakes at Newmarket there were seventeen false starts and the horses were at the post for an hour. Crucifix carrying a 9lb penalty won easily and afterwards she ‘walked over’ for a sweepstake of £100. She won two more races that season and the following year won the Two Thousand Guineas, "making an example of her opponents", starting at 10/1 on. On June 5th she won her last race, the Oaks, after sixteen false starts. Altogether she won twelve races, unbeaten, won £18,287 in prize money and represented a terrific return on the fifty-four guineas paid for her as a foal.
Years 1839/40!
KenFebruary 1, 2010 at 20:34 #273486All records are there to be shot at – of the ones you listed I would suggest Golden Miller’s probably the most vulnerable – especially if KS wins his third this year.
February 1, 2010 at 20:38 #273489Ken…I’ll have to get my old Racing Illustrateds out

Re Kauto threatening Golden Miller’s record. Even in the unlikely event that Denman get’s beat this year there’s a young horse in Ireland called An Siorrac that will see that’s never going to happen
February 1, 2010 at 20:43 #273493Risk Of Thunder’s 7 La Touche Cups.
Enda Bolger winning the La Touche 10 years in a row.
February 1, 2010 at 20:46 #273495Wallace…only Enda himself could beat his La Touche cup record but he’ll have to lose one soon or he’ll never manage.
February 1, 2010 at 20:46 #273496Secretariats 12f record and G1 winning margin?
February 1, 2010 at 20:47 #273497Sorry Imperial Call…I’m so used to Wallace No7 answering hunter chase threads..appologies
February 1, 2010 at 20:55 #273500Wallace…only Enda himself could beat his La Touche cup record but he’ll have to lose one soon or he’ll never manage.
No worries CS, he did lose his consecutive record in the La Touche two years ago. Oh Jackie won the 2008 renewal with Freeneys Well finishing the best of Enda’s in fourth. Normal service was resumed in 2009 when Garde won under Nina beating Silver Birch.
February 1, 2010 at 20:57 #273502Of Coursde….that was the year he pulled Garde Champetre out at the last minute and ran him in the three miler. How could I forget
February 1, 2010 at 21:06 #273506Brown Lad winning 3 Irish Grand nationals …….Captain Christy for being an absolute immortal for horse and Jock …
