On another note I would like to see JP try to pursuade Aidan O’Brien to train over jumps again like he did with Istabraq. Even if its only just 3 or 4 horses given the fact of O’Briens loyality to Ballydoyle. A JP McManus/O’Brien/McCoy partnership would set the benchmark and it would only be a matter of time before the Gold Cups will be coming their way (Cheltenham Gold Cup that is!), It would give David Johnson and Graham Wylie a few sleepless nights if that became reality

    Just like that?

So AOB, is able to do something with chasers that no other current trainer (dealing with them day in day out…rather than once every ten years) can do?

I think even he would be flabbergasted at that suggestion

Is it Jonjo’s fault that when JP tries to buy a horse he wants he has to buy 5 others as part of the deal – who then turn out to be less than shite?
David Johnson suffers from the same but has willing patsys like B Powell and P Monteith to take the rubbish whereas Jonjo ends up with nearly all of JP’s.
I am sick of hearing how SbS is a "front" for the Godolphin operation. He is nothing of the sort, but like all of the Sheikhs trainers, often has to allow the owners to have their own way in the placing of his charges.

Forgive me but this is my first post. As a fan of both Jonjo, JP and AP, it pains me to see him on less than decent horses. When was the last time JP had a top 3m chaser, apart from First Gold, whom he purchased from France with Baracouda. Look at Garde Champetre, looked a promising horse when with Nicholls, has done nothing since.
Why does Nicholls keep getting all these top chasers, his contacts and buyers are obviously better than JP’s, maybe Frank Berry needs to get his finger out, nice bloke that he is.
I thought one of the main reasons AP moved to ride for JP was for the quality horses, were are they all; Wichita Lineman, Straw Bear?,..

And I thought the main reason was the £1 million per annum.

From my point of view, Jonjo, jst hasnt had winnersat all, only usually the odd one or two. Well lets wait n c for the winter national hunt. I think Jonjo might do well at Cheltenham festival.

For someone with that username i’m surprised at your first line!!!!

Every time I go to Towcester I back O’Neill almost blindly because he normally wins. He hasn’t had any particularly great horses recently but the two he has (Wichita and BJK) have both done pretty well. Very much looking forward to seeing Wichita Lineman this season. If he can jump a fence he has the engine to be a top class staying chaser.
