I see Jim ‘Jimbo’ McGrath is departing Sleepy Hollow.

Plenty of Sleepy Hollow alumni on here. Don’t be backward about coming forward with your plaudits.

When I saw the thread title, I thought was going to be about the death the other day of Joe Hirsch.

Now there was a true giant among journalists, one who really will be sadly missed.

Jim McGrath, C4 pundit and managing director of Timeform, and who has tendered his resignation after 35 years with the latter.

Wouldn’t be surprised if it’s due in part to the death of Reg Griffin last year, but whatever best wishes to the shrewd fella

    RUK Jimbo?

Maybe not a surprise, let us hope he is getting over the death of his partner and moving on with his life.

An article in the guardian may clear up a few things people were wondering about on here.

35 years of service seems like a lot to walk away from over a disagreement about a charity day imo. Still only 53 as well.

I can remember Jim McGrath saying a couple of years ago that he found racing politics frustrating.

He probably feels he needs to get away from that side of things and luckily he can do so while still young enough to enjoy life.

That old-fashioned thing: a man of honour

Haven’t braved the crowds at Timeform Charity Day for many a year but I’ll turn up and support Jim’s version. Good luck to him.

As a Timeform addict I hope there are not too many changes. Shame on you Betfair for not supporting the York Charity Day.

Good luck to Jim whatever he does.

Isn’t he still a BHA member?

If he does not like racing politics why do work for the BHA?
