I did point out that it was your use of a deliberately emotive and arguably inappropriate word to describe an organization that has far greater respect than either the BHA, PJA or any dedicated horse charity in the public domain.
A cheap shot at such a body looks just what it is.
I respectfully suggest you examine the respect/reputation of the RSPCA, which is suffering a nosedive, before shooting cheap shots at me.
The RSPCA may or may not be seeing a reduction in its reputation among the general public, but its long-established position does mean that what it says garners most support among the population than anyone who posts on here.
If you think that describing them as "the undead" advances your opinion or earns you respect then so be it. Personally I thought that you were made of better stuff.

Did you indeed. It must have unaccountably escaped your attention that I apologised about a week ago for the grave offence I had caused by describing the RSPCA (metaphorically) as undead. That issue is dead and buried. Walk on, fellow.
If you see no problem in allowing an amateur charity (and one which chooses to dress its ground force "officers" in paramilitary uniforms at that) to be calling the shots in horse racing, then it’s not worth debating with you.
November 15, 2011 at 12:36 #378001Disappointed with Sean Boyce’s interview with Andrew Thornton. Another mutual agreement society on the whip rules.
I know Sean’s opinion on the whip rules is well known; but surely he can ask questions that might give a more balanced look to a programme? Instead of appearing to lead the witness.
When a horse needs a whip stroke going in to a fence, then fine. But why shouldn’t that count as 1 stroke towards the eight?
Jockeys are given a limit of eight strokes, it is up to each jockey to use those eight in the best interests of the horse. So if it is the best way to get the horse from A to B in the quickest time, then give a horse one or even two or three strokes going in to a fence/s out in the country. But there is NO reason why those strokes should not count towards the eight.
I say again, every horse has 8 permitted strokes to win a race, it is up to each jockey to use those 8 in the best way for each horse. Of course it will be a disadvantage for a jockey who has used say three strokes going to the last fence, but he’s only in that position (in contention) because he’s used the whip and others haven’t – for whatever reason. ie It is the horse’s temperament at fault, not the rules.
The "safety" arguement doesn’t wash, apart from the Channinbar’s of this World that might need 8 strokes to get them around. And any horse who hates racing that much should not be racing anyway.
Value Is EverythingNovember 15, 2011 at 12:38 #378002As I have been away, perhaps I should have realized the ephemeral nature of the thread. However the general level of misogyny is of course most disappointing.

Are you on some sort of medication P? If so, can you take some, I think you’ve missed a dose.
And no mention of the
‘big boots they like to sport’
. You’re slipping. Get a grip man.
As Eclipse First says – if you think attacking the RSPCA in this way somehow makes you think you are advancing your anti-rule change argument you’re sadly mistaken.
Sorry everyone
– as the forum owner I am supposed to be above all this but you gotta call a spade a spade at some point!! I’ll try to restrain myself. Put my metaphorical forum whip away before I go over the eight.
November 15, 2011 at 20:26 #378044But at least we take on all-comers here at TRF – I notice Sean Boyce has closed comments on his blog so I’ll post my comments here.
Sean – distances between 3rd and 4th? What are the stats on distances between 1st and 2nd year on year, or 2nd and 3rd?
Those stats on distance between 3rd and 4th EASILY fall into normal statistical variance and are completely meaningless. Meaningless cherry-picking at that.
November 15, 2011 at 20:58 #378051Cormack if you want any stats about distances between first and second etc go to flatstats, they have a free forum and you will find the owner very helpful with any request you make.

November 16, 2011 at 09:01 #378107You need to ensure that your "Inbox","Saved Messages" and "Sent Messages" are all well below the "100%" figure for the "PM" service to operate correctly.
