Maybe the long-awaited 7F Group One could carry her name.
September 9, 2022 at 15:43 #1614017There’s already a race in her name
Would just be confusing if more were added
September 9, 2022 at 15:47 #1614019Will a race have to be renamed in honour of King Charles III?
4 of his 5 predecessors have races named after them. Only Edward VIII does not but no one wants to mention him…
September 9, 2022 at 15:54 #1614021Gamble – that put a smile on my face, cheers mate.
Had never been to Scotland before but I could happily live up there, beautiful country and the people couldn’t have been friendlier either. I remember being in shock when people let me skip the que in the shop because I had far less items than them!! Never get that round here!
September 9, 2022 at 17:32 #1614036What about the one British Classic she failed to win? If it’s good enough for Cazoo it should be good enough for Queen Elizabeth 11.
September 9, 2022 at 17:37 #1614037The “If it ain’t Cazoo, it’s ER Two Derby”?
Nah.
September 9, 2022 at 18:31 #1614045Ian,
“And the feature event
The Oliver Cromwell Handicap”
That sounds like the perfect race for one of those bookmaker special offers – money back if you lose by a head.
September 9, 2022 at 18:51 #1614050That’s outrageous, Alan!
It must be because I can’t stop laughing!

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"September 9, 2022 at 22:40 #1614059We already have the QE2 at Ascot next month and the USA, Canada, Japan, Hong Kong and Australia all have prestigious races named in her honour so I don’t think another one is really needed.
But if you really pressed me to suggest a race then the Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot could (with the King’s permission) easily be renamed to the Queen Elizabeth 2 Commonwealth Cup.
It will be interesting to see who will pick up her racing interests, obviously KC3 will lead the Royal Ascot processions but my initial thoughts were that maybe Princess Anne and/or her daughter Zara Tindell will be the ones it falls upon being the most equestrian minded of the remaining Royals.
September 11, 2022 at 07:29 #1614199Perhaps they could add another day to Cheltenham and have all 7 races in her name …..

Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
September 11, 2022 at 16:50 #1614351LD73 – the Commonwealth Cup is the one that came to my mind too. Seems a fairly obvious idea to rename it as you suggest.
September 11, 2022 at 17:31 #1614367‘Perhaps they could add another day to Cheltenham and have all 7 races in her name’
Fantastic idea. Disagreeing with this is basically treason.
September 11, 2022 at 17:43 #1614371I read somewhere (on the RP website I think) that at the time the Commonwealth Cup was suggested as a potential name for the new race that the late Queen was very much in agreement with that idea especially considering what the Commonwealth represented to her.
Therefore with it being run at Royal Ascot and with how much that meeting in particular resonates not only to the British public (but the wider world as a whole) as being synonymous when you think of her, it seems a bit of a no brainer to rename the race in her honour yet still retain its link to the Commonwealth as well.
September 11, 2022 at 18:55 #1614382There’s a **** load of races needing a sponsor on the all weather on Friday night at Wolverhampton in deepest winter
8.45 In memory of Elizabeth the great and Abdibs cash and carry ” we won’t beaten on price ” handicap ….. The race called by Thommo with the immortal ” photo , photo ” , as the winner wins by 3/4 quarter of a length ….I’m in tears already , Meagan can hand over the winning cheque for £998 then take the owners for a Ruby
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
September 16, 2022 at 15:43 #1614898I notice that at Nantes today the erstwhile ‘Prix de L’Arc Atlantique’ was run as ‘Prix Sa Majeste La Reine Elisabeth II’ so that’s one race that has been renamed. I’ll try and remember to check this time next year to see if becomes a permanent fixture. Not the most prestigious of races it has to be said, but it’s the thought that counts!
September 16, 2022 at 20:37 #1614924I would like to go even further and ask all breeders to name at least one female offspring in 2023 after Her Majesty. Kirsten Rausing would use such names as Alpine Queen or Alpinqueena, Sheikh Mo would go for Dubawi Queen or even better Queen of Dubai, Coolmore would choose between Holy Roman Queen, No Queen Ever or Highland Queen.
September 17, 2022 at 00:02 #1614940The sooner the next two weeks pass and i never have to hesr this conversation again, will still be too soon
