    Good stuff.

    Yes, i agree about Franchoek, Soliya ran an ok race i thought, was just beaten by a better horse in the end on the day. Didnt think Soliya did anything wrong as such.

    The next meet at Market Rasen on a Sunday isn’t until November 11th, wouldnt mind going to it though.

    I thought the Findlay hurdler didn’t hurdle very well and it was his "class" :roll: that got him the race.

    Agreed it was his first attempt at jumping in public but he didn’t appear to be a natural.

    Falcon’s Fire appeared to have the scope to keep progressing.

    Falcon’s Fire was very impressive.

    Especially at 10/1.

    Maybe the fact that Falcon’s Fire is the first horse Ann Duffied has run in hurdles since January 2006 should have served as enough of a clue in itself that she thought he’d be quite handy in this sphere. She certainly doesn’t appear to send them over timber lightly.

    Quite a decent week for her after the Watership Down Fillies Stud Race win, all told.

    I backed Fier Normand in the big handicap chase. Was very impressed seeing as though he’s a lightly-raced horse especially over fences. Seemingly on a winning mark too and will be backed next time out.

    Agree about Francheoak – looked extremely one-paced and lacking a change of gear. All in all an enjoyable card, signalling the imminence of the of the national hunt season proper.

    Falcons Fire won over hurdles, for Ann Duffield, in August this year Jeremy.

    I’m aware of that, DPRP. My point was that he is the first horse Ann Duffied has run in hurdles since January 2006, not that that Saturday’s run was his first hurdles run; although semantically I concede that either interpretation could have been taken. A rare blip. :)

    I’ll try that again, seeing as those photos are a bit big for the page
    (and pushed half my response off it).

    PS Kauto_star;
    good photos as they are, any chance you could cut them
    and then re-paste them into your post a little smaller, please?
    A chunk of all the longer sentences in the other posts
    has disappeared off the page since they went up. Ta!

    Yes, I realise that now…and to be fair your semantic ambiguity was
    no reason for my pedantry!

    No worries, Kauto_star, I think I’ve probably done the same with some oversized photos here in the past as well!

    I dunno if you’d gone home by then, but an action picture of Tony Dobbin and Tina Jackson being thrown from their mounts in unison before the bumper would have made a terrific shot. Some real nervy newcomers spooked by the big crowd in that one!

    Yep, it was the finale. Mark you, Prestbury Knight nearly pulled off the same stunt in the chute onto the track. Not that it did him much harm in the end, though.

    Full review of the Saturday’s action now available at;

    I’ve already spotted a couple of continuity errors reading it through again just now, but overall I’m happy enough with it.
