If Sentry Duty hadn’t turned out Celestial Halo would have won by 15lengths and would probalby be disputing favouritism with Franchoek and how far off the mark we would be?
The fact is the horse probabaly isn’t as good as he was made to look 1st time up and there is no sense in making lame excuses for him.
.FoF
The only thing lame around here is your reading and understanding of his form.
Imo, the horse looks nailed on for the first 4 in the Triumph on anything but fast ground.February 4, 2008 at 07:32 #140006Yeah someone said the same thing about Straw Bear in a recent post when I said he wouldn’t get within 12 lengths of the winner of this years champion hurdle. Hope he never bet it

You leave the reading of form to me Reet.
As the race stands he would have harder job being out of the first four than being in it. Pipes horse currently 5th favourite would have no chance of reversing form with Franchoek and the 4th Won in the Dark has 8 lengths to make up on him..Plus he wouldn’t want the soft ground and your fellow would be happy on it. Turns up good he could be the biggest danger to the Henderson duo as he looks to be an improving horse.
The Grey Berry at the moment looks the only other horse who might come into the reckoning. So unless something jumps out of the woodwork you aren’t exactly telling me much.
I would say backing him EW could be risky as his price is too short. Something is sure to come out of the woodwork and he certainly wouldn’t be winning the race on that performance yesterday. Need to be 16/1 to be worth even an EW bet
February 7, 2008 at 21:30 #141117Seems my question has gone beyond the walls of the forum
Obviously absolutely nothing to do with it but it is interesting to see the question has now been asked.Alan King says Franchoek will definately go for the Triumph but Frank Berry stated "Train him for the Triumph until you are told differently" That’s hardly conclusive and it still would not surprise me if they switch Franchoek.
I have said all along I think Binocular is a really special horse and will beat Franchoek if and when they meet at Cheltenham
The Supreme hurdle would be easy pickings in comparison for Franchoek and if JP thinks Binocular is the better of the two I don’t think he would hesiste in switching the former and have a go at both prizes.
William Hill now have Franchoek at 8/1 for the SNH. Captain Cee Bee and Cork All Star are enetered to meet on Sunday and if they run badly or unimpressively I wouldn’t mind a bet that JP McManus steps in and orders the switch.
February 7, 2008 at 21:33 #141119Fists, has your confidence been reduced by the run of the King horse today?
Colin
February 7, 2008 at 21:54 #141139Absolutely not Colin he looked miles better than anything in that race at Ascot and what they do now is totally irrelevant.
When I saw Binocular the rest of the horses were like stocking fillers. Bar one who is a nice horse in the making….McCoy rode it
You think of the many good horses of the past when they won first time out and what they beat. Most would turn out to be moderate yet the horse in question becomes a Superstar……..it’s not what you beat it’s the way that you do it that counts………for example Denman beat a horse called Lyles Green in his first race by about 2 lengths………..Lyles Greens claims to fame is about 20 losses and 1 win in a bad hurdle race at Market Rasen.

February 15, 2008 at 18:01 #143607Is this a case of someone posting in the wrong ID or is it a joke that Im not in on?
February 15, 2008 at 18:07 #143610Binocular was said earlier in the week to be a possible at sandown today, instead of his intended prep, but couldnt see him on todays card, he’s getting a bit of extra market support lately in to 7s in the triumph.

No mate not a joke had Crack away Jack in my Bob Rolf tips against Binocular last time out and had marked him down as a horse to follow and back next time out….Horse has had plenty money for him 1st time out then they booked Ruby(not ap) to ride him at Ascot and looked useful to me…plenty money for him again today and I missed the fooka and I am in a k**t of a mood…..Just ignore me I’m off to bed anyway
