I don’t know if you’ve already had a thread of this ilk, but now’s as good a time as any to start one, especially as I’m slightly tipsy right now <!– s:-) –>
<!– s:-) –>
My currnet mood is ecstatic <!– s;-) –>
<!– s;-) –> I’ve just been through a job interview for police HR staff that I absolutely nailed! I’d done my homework so that when they asked me what my understanding of the term "diversity" was I could almost quote the reply. I could do everything they asked. I even had that "clicked" moment you hope for when we all waxed lyrical about how much fun Excel is <!– s:? –>
<!– s:? –>
Now I’ve got to turn them down because I’ve been offered a better job at M&S where I am now <!– s:-) –>
<!– s:-) –> I’ve been offered the job of PA to the store Manager and as I get on really well with him, I’m going to stick with that even though it’s less money. I can’t wait to get started!
Plus I get to move out of my current office where you can cut the atmosphere with a knife at the moment <!– s:-) –>

Life is sweet sometimes!November 5, 2008 at 01:38 #188033Depressed.
Stuck miles away from where I want to be, in a town where you get beaten up for being foreign, with badly bruised ribs and a sore wrist having been attacked on Saturday night.
Been turned down for a 2nd job interview with a firm in London, on a happier note off to Paris on Friday with my OH and have secured 2 more job interviews back in the UK/Channel Islands (well the latter isn’t sure yet) and will be leaving my current job which I like but hate the town I live in and really want to be back in the UK/Ireland.
November 5, 2008 at 02:23 #188047BH – don’t you be getting TOO friendly with that store manager now!
IS – If you will visit Scotland you have to learn that these things happen.

Corm.I’m at the arse end of Spain at the moment – the bit with the 40% unemployment rates.
November 5, 2008 at 11:35 #188097Good luck with the interviews!
Yeah, my boss said he’d considered asking me to work with him in his office but thought I might be a bit lonely in with him
so he’s putting me in the office with all the other Managers. Phew!November 5, 2008 at 12:51 #188100I’m comfortable today .. pleased that Obama has won the US election, a bit tired though after staying up late to watch the results.
Nice move on the job BH, what does a PA do, make the tea ?
IS – things can always get worse, I’m not quite sure how, but they can ..
November 5, 2008 at 14:52 #188116After a couple of trying months, I’m back to my usual unremittingly, irritatingly chipper self this week, ta for asking.
Sitting in a nice warm friendly office with a mug of black coffee and bowl of Dorset Cereal right now is only adding to that. Simple pleasures, as Mrs C used to say.

November 6, 2008 at 03:59 #188238miserable as sin last night but took the car to Ilkeston for a service this morning and had to walk round the town [?] centre for a couple of hours…came home feeling really happy…this must be the first time that Ilkeston has had this effect on anybody……
November 6, 2008 at 04:40 #188252always cry at remembrance day service, only time i go to church.
November 6, 2008 at 04:43 #188253yes; I’ve been watching those programmes on BBC4 narrated by Judi Dench about the First World War and shed a few tears; can’t imagine how it would feel for your son to go to war….
November 6, 2008 at 12:49 #188288I feel a bit irritable this morning .. into work early because the car is in for it’s MOT.
Had an interesting debate with the kids last night. The boy was talking in school about the US elections and he reckoned that the result was racist because 90%+ of black american voters voted for Obama. The girl pointed out that him noticing that could be racist and may offend people. The missus reckons that anyone who is offended by someone noticing a fact just has a big chip on their shoulder and needs to get their head out of their own arse. I said we had a preconcieved ideas about racism, put out by the government, that it’s only a small minority of white people who are racists. When the truth could be that non-whites could be more racist, but no-one can ever know what someone else is thinking, therefore you can only really make a judgement based on their actions.
I’m still thinking about it now, obviously.
