December 8, 2009 at 01:12 #262668Not played this for a while-Peaches
———————————–
Strolling along minding my own business
There goes a girl and a half
She’s got me going up and down (x2)
Walking on the beaches looking at the peachesWell I got the notion girl that
You got some sun tan lotion in that bottle of yours
Spread it all over my peeling skin baby
That feels real good
All this skirt
Lapping up the sun
Lap me up
(Why don’t you come on and)
Lap me up
Walking on the beaches looking at the peachesThere goes another one
Just lying down on the sand dunes
Better go and take a swim
And see if I can cool down a little bit
‘Cos you and me woman
We got a lotta things on our minds
(You know what I mean)
Walking on the beaches looking at the peachesWill you take a look over there?
Where?
There
Is she trying to get out of that clitoris
Liberation for women
That’s what I preach
Preacher man
Walking on the beaches looking at the peachesOh ****! There goes the charabang
Looks like I’m gonna be stuck here the whole summer
Well what a bummer
I can think of a lot worse places to be
Like down in the street
Or down in the sewer
Or even on the end of a skewerDown on the beaches looking at the peaches

They had to change one or two words of the lyrics to get radio play.December 8, 2009 at 08:56 #262684Thats the line that Moe was on about alright Tor! The Summer of 76 saw that released! Keith Floyd was a big fan of the Meninblack also,he used "Waltzinblack" as his intro to his cooking programmes!
December 8, 2009 at 09:02 #262685This one will test ya Tor! Who sang this?
"Gentle pretty thing, who only had the one spring"
"You bravely faced the world, ready for anything"
"I"m happy that you lived and your life was fine"
"What ave i except to cry, spirits never die"
"Birds of the air, beasts of the earth"
"Overjoyed at —— birth,they gambolled in the glades"December 8, 2009 at 09:36 #262689Aha! I know, but I’m keeping shtoom for now.

(PS That’s Aha as in the noise of recognition, not A-Ha as in the Norwegian pop trio with the Grecian 2000-marinaded frontman…)

December 8, 2009 at 12:47 #262711Saw The Stranglers in 1990 I think at De Montfort Hall. If I remember correctly we were due to see them earlier but the concert was cancelled due to a bomb threat and rescheduled about 4 weeks later. Glad I got to see them as Hugh Cornwell left later in the year.
December 8, 2009 at 15:24 #262747Is it Who Killed Bambi-Sex Pistols?
Can’t find a youtube for it.

December 8, 2009 at 22:08 #262836Tor; I read up on that Hound Tor place that you mentioned..it sounds amazing. I spent a lot of my mis spent youth climbing Rough Tor, and after that there are loads of family photos over the years of us all there. What mysterious places they are. [always feel that the South West is another world anyway]. Worked in Tintagel and Boscastle one summer; so much witchcraft. It was an eye opener moving from the city to the country!
December 8, 2009 at 22:31 #262848The Best Of Lindisfarne.

Erm, make that about six songs.

Such inspired lyrics … " we can have a wee-wee, we can have a wet on the wall."

We’ve gone a bit retro at Simpson Towers lately, so it’s been: –
Kind Of Blue – Miles Davis
Sergeant Pepper – Beatles
Bridge Of Sighs – Robin Trowerb
December 9, 2009 at 09:56 #262912Well I’ve had great fun spending a lot of the day going through this entire thread and watching all the YouTube vids and finding new tracks I like. Big thanks to Jeremy, especially for his list of 50 tracks. I gave up on your links by about Page 10 I think since I hated absolutely everything, but for some reason was drawn to your list and picked off a good 10-15 songs so thanks.
My pleasure. Trust me, I’ve heaploads more guff where that lot came from just waiting in the wings!

The Cure-Love Cats
Not a patch on "The Forest"! awesome eery Bass intro Tor!
December 9, 2009 at 21:57 #263045Dandy Warhols; somebody borrowed my Dandy Warhol cd’s a while ago and swear that they gave them back; they didn’t. Not if you were the last junkie on earth probably one of my favourite singalong/driving to tracks of all time [although judgeing by their latest albums they didn’t heed their own advice]. Was in an Oxfam shop today and Eels had been put in the ‘easy listening’ section..not sure about that. And they had an Ancient Beatbox album which I struggled to find years ago; eventually bought the tape, but so tempted to get the cd [£5; seemed a bit steep]. If only you’d mentioned it last year… but alas, ’tis gone now from my collection – along with A Saucerful Of Secrets.

Oh well, set the controls for the heart of the sun.
