Just looking at past races, what a horse Dayjur was, sadly i never saw him, but i really appreciate what he does to this field, changing his deet 17 times and forging clear, it reminds me of my favorite sire in the Nunthorpe with hughsie on board, Oasis Dream

    Hi Lee,

I was fortunate enough to spend a couple of days at Manton during the John Gosden years when Oasis Dream was stabled there. It was King George weekend so a couple of weeks after his July Cup win.

OD was the most perfect racing specimen. He only did light exercise that morning but hangover or otherwise me and my mate were up with the larks to see him and the rest of the string work. Manton on a sunny July morning – is there a better place on earth!

The yard were devastated when he got beat in his first 2 starts as a 2yo. They thought he was a machine and time proved them to be spot on.

He’s also been a fantastic success at stud and I can appreciate why he’s your fav sire.

    Cheers,
    Neil

Well thats fantastic! i love waking up at 6am on a crisp summers morning, going over to the gallops to see the horses work, its such a lovely sight, poetry in motion how an animal the size of a cow can run without effort at 40mph+ and yes hes been a success at stud! I would love to see K Abdhulla send a few more 1m4f mares to him.. with the speed to win the guineas and stamina for the derby, Brilliance.

The best looking Colt I’ve seen on-course. His appearance, aura and demeanour in the pre-parade prior to his Nunthorpe win was devastating: the knees of strong men jellified, heads shook and phews were exhaled in admiration

For those of you who know the pre-parade ring at York, I was leaning on the rail at the top right-hand corner which allows a head-on view of the horses as they approach and then an ‘up close and personal’ turn away to the left. Oasis Dream eye-balled me then threw his head to the left. Recovery from the metaphorical punch to the solar plexus took some time. One of the great little moments in my turf-treading life

Here’s a look at Dayjur’s brilliant 1990 season for anyone interested. He was awesome and definitely the best sprinter I’ve seen.

Also, I did a countdown of the top 10 sprinters that I’ve watched during the 20 years I’ve been a fan of racing. Oasis Dream’s Nunthorpe victory that has been mentioned in this thread is amongst the races shown in the countdown.
